Job summary

Wheeler Clinic in New Britain, CT seeks a Program Manager to oversee our therapeutic child care program. The role offers clinical supervision, administrative oversight, and direct counseling to children ages 3-5 and their families within an interdisciplinary team.

The successful candidate will hold a graduate degree in a related field, have 3 years of relevant experience, and be eligible for CT licensure (LCSW/LPC/LMFT or Licensed Clinical Psychologist) with IMH-E III endorsement eligibility.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Program Manager oversees the implementation of the therapeutic child care program. The Program Manager provides clinical supervision, administrative oversight, program effectiveness and provides child and family counseling and support for individual children and families. The program manager works as a member of an interdisciplinary team to meet the social and emotional needs of children ages 3-5, by providing assessment, trauma-informed and relationship based interventions in an early childhood classroom setting to support child social skills development and self-regulation capacities and provides support for caregivers through counseling and parent psychoeducation.

$74,000

Education And Experience/Qualifications

Graduate degree in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or another related clinical field, plus 3 years experience working with young children is required.

Licensure Requirements For Clinical Positions

Credential(s) Required: Licensed by the state of CT as a LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist.

Eligible to attain the CT-AIMH Infant Mental Health Endorsement level III (IMH-E® III)

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Demonstrates knowledge of early childhood development, trauma-informed and relationally based treatment, and evidence based treatment modalities and translates this knowledge into classroom-based interventions to support young children’s learning experiences and adaptive and social skills, promotes positive social and emotional development and increases healthy self-regulation skills in young children.

Conducts program intakes to ensure that child enrollments are processed and completed in a timely manner.

Conducts initial assessments for program children and families and develops and presents clear clinical formulations that are specific, attainable relational and behavioral oriented treatment plans, and identifies and provides therapeutic interventions appropriate to specified problems.

Provides and supports classroom therapist in providing child specific interventions in an early childhood setting to promote child self regulation through affect identification, modulation and expression and child competencies through mastery of developmental tasks, executive function and self-development.

Serves as a role model for staff to promote strong work ethic and the use of evidence-based trauma-informed relational approaches/models of intervention with young children and families.

Provides clinical services to specified children and families when needed.

Facilitates communication between caregivers, classroom staff, DCF and other providers to support child and family needs.

Provides interdisciplinary reflective supervision to classroom clinical and educational staff.

Reviews and edits clinical documents and reports.

Assists staff in conducting meetings with providers, kinship, foster, pre-adoptive and biological families, and/or children to help promote stability for young children and families. Communicates in a positive, effective manner with all clinical, educational, and administrative service providers and provides clinical consultation to classroom staff.

Completes performance evaluations for supervised clinical staff.

Identifies potential risk factors and taking measures to reduce those risks in the milieu through reinforcement of positive and safe behaviors, trauma-informed and relationally-based therapeutic interventions, and reporting of suspected child abuse/neglect, according to agency policies and procedures.

Trains and participates in emergency safety interventions authorized and approved by the agency, when a student presents with an imminent safety concern.

Continues to develop knowledge and understanding about the history, traditions, values, family systems, and artistic expression of groups served as well as uses appropriate methodological approaches, skills, and techniques that reflect an understanding of culture.
