Your Role on the Team

The Program Manager has the overall responsibility of developing, planning, managing, and implementing non‑degree certificate programs and courses offered on quarterly basis for the Planning unit. Incumbent is also responsible for the overall quality of course offerings. The incumbent must develop, plan and implement courses, prepare quarterly schedules, hire instructors, along with full responsibility of meeting annual financial targets. Must develop and maintain relations with industry professionals, industry associations, and community members. Develops advisory committees comprised of appropriate industry and academic leaders to enforce update curriculum and course content. Must work with DCE Student Services in providing current information on certificate programs and coordinating room assignment. Works with Director and Marketing Department to ensure appropriate marketing for courses. Responsible for determining course cancellation and offerings. Manages relationships with instructors and responsible for evaluating instructor teaching and hiring. Manages internal relations with a variety of DCE and campus departments, and outside vendors to ensure that all instructional materials are delivered in a timely and standardized fashion and that all instructional equipment is available.

  • Skill in using business software systems in the completion of work assignments (i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).

  • Advanced analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of the organization’s policies and procedures; advanced knowledge of functional area and understands how work impacts other areas of public educational programs.

  • Advanced knowledge of accredited and / or certificate program instruction and delivery methodologies, the organization, market and business strategies.

  • Equivalent combination of education, training and experience in the industry.

  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, manage multiple projects, adjust to changing priorities, and perform well under pressure.

  • Ability to find creative solutions for escalated issues in high‑pressure situations with impending deadlines.

  • Ability to create and modify workflow processes.

  • Excellent organizational skills and project management experience (with tools such as Wrike, Basecamp).

  • Ability to collaborate well with instructors/SMEs and UCI‑DCE colleagues.

  • Experience working with third party vendors and contractors in the course development process

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training

  • Continuing education in related field required.

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience• 7+ years of experience working in Higher Education.
