Job summary

Central California Asthma Collaborative (CCAC) is seeking a Program Manager to lead the statewide CalSMP Community Engagement Project (CEP). The role oversees CEP deliverables, manages program coordinators, and coordinates with CCAC staff and subcontracted CBO partners to educate communities across California near methane emission sources.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Public Health, Social Work or related field.
  • At least 2 years of project management work experience (preferably with community‑based organization).
  • Experience supervising 2 or more full‑time employees, including managing timekeeping, budgets and expenses.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating effectively with community members and project partners.
  • Experience using various computer software programs (Microsoft Office Suite, Asana or Monday, Canva, etc.).
  • English fluency required (Spanish fluency preferred).
  • Experience with all aspects of cultural competency.
  • Able to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends as needed.
  • Experience working in environmental justice field preferred.

  • Prepare CalSMP CEP presentations and materials (updates and findings) to be shared with subcontracted CBOs and other stakeholders.
  • Schedule and facilitate quarterly meetings with the subcontracted CBO cohort to review completed activities and discuss challenges and successes.
  • Provide regular project updates to the Clean Air Director and assist in preparing reports.
  • All other duties as assigned.

ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND:

Central California Asthma Collaborative (CCAC) is a non‑profit organization dedicated to advancing health equity and environmental justice by empowering Central Californiacommunities through services, research, advocacy, and data‑driven solutions to reduce the burden of asthma.


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Program Manager will work under the direction of Clean Air Director to lead the statewide CalSMP Community Engagement Project (CEP). The goal of CalSMP CEP is to engage and educate disadvantaged communities across California that are located near sources of fugitive methane emissions (e.g. oil and gas operations, solid waste landfills, dairy digesters) that may include toxic air contaminants and pose a public health risk to the community. The Program Manager will be responsible for overseeing CalSMP CEP deliverables, including the management of community‑based organizations across California that are subcontracted by CCAC to lead engagement and education in the communities they serve.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Utilize project management tools to track CalSMP CEP activities, deliverables and timelines.

  • Supervise and manage Program Coordinators who will directly support subcontracted CBOs to ensure project activities are completed and documented.

  • Document all CalSMP CEP activities conducted by CCAC and subcontracted CBO partners in quarterly progress reports.

  • Work closely with other CCAC personnel support ing CalSMP CEP (e.g. Data Manager, Communications Manager, Contracts and Grants Manager) to ensure individual tasks are being coordinated across the project.

  • Prepare CalSMP CEP presentations and materials (updates and findings) to be shared with subcontracted CBOs and other stakeholders.

  • Schedule and facilitate quarterly meetings with the subcontracted CBO cohort to review completed activities and discuss challenges and successes.

TRAVEL:

Travel across the state to support events and attend meetings/trainings with partners and stakeholders, or other purposes as needed.


DRIVING AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a valid CA Driver's License and applicable CA mandated auto insurance.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

May be required to obtain COVID 19 and Flu vaccinations. Lift up to 20 (twenty) pounds.


AUTHORITY AND SUPERVISORY CAPACITY:

Supervise a staff of 2 or more full‑time employees (direct reports).


ACCESS TO SENSITIVE INFORMATION:

Must maintain confidentiality of personal client, staff and partner information exposed to when working in files and preparing reports.
