Job summary

Town of Waltham is seeking a part-time, temporary youth program assistant to supervise and lead middle school age youths in recreational activities, events, and field trips. You will help with setup/cleanup and communicate with participants and parents as needed.

Certification in CPR & First Aid is required or obtainable, and CORI must be passed. Prior teen/youth experience is a plus, with no benefits attached to this temporary position.

Duties

The purpose of this position is to supervise and instruct middle school aged youths in recreational activities, programs, special events and on field trips. Set-up and clean up before and after all teen center activities. Supervise teams in recreational activities such as ping pong, air hockey, video games, sports, roller skating/scootering, arts and crafts, etc. Instruct programs for teens in the area of recreation. Supervise off-site field trips as needed. Communicate effectively with program participants and their parents/guardians when necessary. Report any problems to Recreation Supervisor. Qualifications

Certification in CPR & First Aid, or ability to obtain. Prior experience working with teens/youth a plus. Must successfully pass a Criminal Offenders Records Information (CORI).

• Salary: $17 hr.
• Hours: To be discussed with supervisor. Not to exceed 19 hrs. per week.
