Job summary

The Ranch Malibu is seeking a part‑time Program Guide to lead groups of up to 26 guests on daily guided hikes, delivering a high-end hospitality experience while prioritizing safety and guest engagement.

You will work with a team of guides, curate engaging outdoor experiences, and adapt to varying trail conditions and guest fitness levels.

Qualifications

• Excellent leadership and communication skills, including public speaking and active listening.
• Physical stamina and a hospitality mindset with a fitness passion.
• Current First Aid and CPR/AED certifications (required).
• Additional certifications - Wilderness First Aid, Yoga, wellness instruction and Class C and CDL highly desired.
• Strong leadership with the ability to motivate and guide participants.
• Experience in teaching, customer service, or related fields preferred.
• Exceptional time management to handle multiple activities.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
• Public speaking or leading group activities experience is a plus.
• Reliable transportation and availability for scheduled part‑time hours.

As a Program Guide, you will be responsible for leading groups of up to 26 guests on daily 2-4 hour guided hikes while delivering a safe, supportive, and high-end hospitality experience. You'll work alongside a team of fellow guides, curating an engaging, results-oriented guest experience that prioritizes safety, encouragement, and connection to the outdoors.

• Share knowledge of the local environment, foster an inclusive and positive group dynamic, and respond calmly and confidently to emergencies or changing conditions.

Requirements

• Excellent leadership and communication skills, including public speaking and active listening
• Physical stamina w/ a passion for fitness, along with a hospitality personality
• Current First Aid and CPR/AED certifications (required)
• Additional certifications - Wilderness First Aid, Yoga, wellness instruction and Class C and CDL highly desired.
• Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and guide participants
• Experience in teaching, customer service, or related fields preferred
• Exceptional time management skills to handle multiple activities efficiently
• Ability to work independently while maintaining a team-oriented attitude
• Previous experience in public speaking or leading group activities is a plus
• Reliable transportation and availability for scheduled part‑time hours

Physical Requirements

Mobility and Endurance

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 6-8 hours per shift).

Ability to move quickly between facility locations, both indoors and outdoors terrain.

Must be able to endure hiking trails with varying levels of difficulty.

Strength & Lifting

Ability to lift and carry up to 25-50 lbs.

Assist with moving furniture or props for program spaces as needed.

Flexibility & Range Of Motion

Must be able to bend, squat, kneel, reach, crawl, and perform various physical activities.

Environmental Exposure

Indoor & Outdoor Environments

Work occurs both indoors and outdoors of the facility (poolside, hiking trails, gym)

Exposed to varying temperatures

to include extreme heat and cold conditions, humidity, sunlight, and occasional inclement weather.
