Job summary

University of Alabama at Birmingham seeks a PROGRAM DIRECTOR I to oversee day-to-day operations of a HIV/HCV research program within the Patel Research Group. You will supervise staff, coordinate implementation across partners, and lead protocol development and regulatory submissions.

The role emphasizes leadership, writing skills, collaboration with investigators and government partners, and dissemination of study findings. Hybrid work arrangement is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required.
• Work experience may not substitute for the education requirement.
• Preferred master’s degree and demonstrated leadership in health research or public health projects.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage project implementation activities across multiple projects and partner organizations.
• Supervise, mentor, train, and evaluate project personnel.
• Coordinate project timelines, deliverables, meetings, and communication among investigators and stakeholders.
• Build collaborations with healthcare systems, community organizations, and public health agencies.
• Lead development of study protocols, implementation plans, SOPs, and training materials.
• Prepare IRB submissions and other regulatory documents; assist with grant applications.
