Job summary

South College in Columbus is seeking a Program Director for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program. The incumbent will oversee the program's structure, clinical and didactic integration, and alignment with accreditation standards, reporting to the campus president.

Responsibilities include coordinating clinical education, supervising teaching staff and clinical affiliates, advising students, maintaining records, and ensuring ARDMS/ARRT certification remains current.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Credentials: Must be credentialed and in good standing with the ARDMS (AB and OB/GYN).
  • Experience: Two years full-time experience as a radiographer and/or sonographer.

  • Coordinates, evaluates, and supervises the program’s clinical component.
  • Acts as liaison between clinical agencies and the college, maintaining open lines of communication with the Clinical Coordinator.
  • Provides student counseling and advising as required.
  • Maintains all student clinical records and calculates quarterly grades.
  • Ensures ARDMS and/or ARRT certification is maintained.

Program Director – Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS)

South College invites applications for the position of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Program Director at the Columbus Campus. The Program Director reports to the campus President and, in conjunction with the Clinical Coordinator, is responsible for integrating all clinical education with didactic education.

Responsibilities
  • Oversees the structure and daily operation of the program, including administration, periodic review, evaluation, continued development, and overall program effectiveness.
  • Ensures effectiveness of all clinical affiliates/education centers is maintained.
  • Coordinates, evaluates, and supervises the program’s clinical component.
  • Acts as liaison between clinical agencies and the college, maintaining open lines of communication with the Clinical Coordinator.
  • Provides student counseling and advising as required.
  • Maintains all student clinical records in conjunction with the Clinical Coordinator, including calculation of quarterly grades.
  • Encourages valid evaluation of each student by clinical instructors, department managers, staff sonographers, and students.
  • Evaluates student performance during clinical visits.
  • Reviews and revises performance objectives to ensure valid clinical learning experiences.
  • Reviews the Clinical Competency Manual and additional policy handbooks annually.
  • Maintains and analyzes student data for retention rates, credential pass rates, and employer/student survey results.
  • Ensures the program is viable and meets the standards of JRC-ERT.
  • Maintains ARDMS and/or ARRT certification.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Credentials: Must be credentialed and in good standing with the ARDMS (AB and OB/GYN).
  • Experience: Must possess proficiency in curriculum development, instructional methodologies, evaluation and assessment, supervision, instruction, education, and counseling; must possess the appropriate credential(s) specific to one or more offered credentials; must possess an equivalent of two years full-time experience as a radiographer and/or sonographer.
