Job summary

CSUN is seeking a Program Assistant for the APIDA Resource Center to support coordination and delivery of student-focused programs, including ASAP. You will assist with outreach, events, and administrative processes to promote engagement, retention, and academic success.

The role involves facilitating workshops, mentoring, cultural programming, and providing referrals to campus resources, while maintaining confidentiality and collaborating with students, faculty, and staff.

Qualifications

  • A four-year college degree or higher in behavioral sciences, public or business administration or related field.
  • At least one year of professional Student Services experience; entry trainee level.
  • Master’s degree may substitute for required experience.
  • Knowledge of Student Affairs, Student Development, and campus policies.
  • Strong written and oral communication; maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing established CSUN ASAP programs and initiatives that support student academic success and engagement
  • Coordinate logistics for workshops, mentoring programs, cultural programming, and academic success initiatives
  • Provide support to students seeking information about APIDA Resource Center and CSUN ASAP services
  • Conduct intake meetings to assess basic student needs and provide referrals to campus resources
  • Assist in developing outreach materials, newsletters, website updates, and social media content
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job description

Major Duties

Under general supervision, the Program Assistant, APIDA Resource Center supports coordination and delivery of student-focused programs, including the CSUN California Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander Student Achievement Program (ASAP), and assists with outreach, events, and administrative processes. Contributes to student support services and program operations aligned with established guidelines, helping facilitate engagement, retention, and academic success initiatives.

  • Assists in implementing established CSUN ASAP programs and initiatives that support student academic success and engagement
  • Coordinates logistics for workshops, mentoring programs, cultural programming, and academic success initiatives
  • Provides support to students seeking information about APIDA Resource Center and CSUN ASAP services
  • Conducts intake meetings to assess basic student needs and provide referrals to appropriate campus resources
  • Assists in developing outreach materials, newsletters, website updates, and social media content
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field.
  • Equivalent to one year of experience in professional Student Services work at the entry trainee level.
  • A Master’s degree in a job-related field may be substituted for the required experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of Student Affairs, Student Development and/or Student Services in higher education and working knowledge of student development principles and basic student support practices.
  • Knowledge of current trends in Student Success as it relates to Academic Affairs and holistic student support. Knowledge of cultural competence and cultural humility principles.
  • Ability to interpret and apply program guidelines and campus policies and gather and analyze student information and make appropriate referrals.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, faculty, and staff and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
  • The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver, and more.
  • Classification: 3079 / SSP IB/ Grade 2
  • The anticipated HIRING RATE is $4482 per month. The salary range for this classification is: $4482 - $6342 per month.
  • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday. May include evenings and weekends.
  • This is a Temporary position; end date to be determined. One year appointment with the opportunity for reappointment based on funding.
  • The individual hired for this role will physically work on-campus in Northridge. This is not a telecommute position.
