Job summary

I Have a Dream Foundation partners with AmeriCorps to help students from low-income communities succeed in school and reach postsecondary success. As a part-time AmeriCorps member, you will mentor a caseload of Dream Scholars and lead in-school and after-school academic and enrichment activities.

You will push into classrooms for tutoring, support other volunteers, and engage families through workshops. This role builds college and career awareness through job training and internships.

Qualifications

• Mentor a caseload of 15–25 Dream Scholars and lead activities.
• U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident.
• Pass required National Service Criminal History Checks.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education or human services preferred.
• Clean driving record and access to a vehicle required.

What You’ll Do

Who We’re Looking For

• At least 17 (21+ preferred), with a high school diploma or GED
• U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident
• Able to pass required National Service Criminal History Checks
• Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience in education or human services preferred
• Clean driving record and access to a vehicle required

Member Benefits:

• Part-time members serve a minimum of 18 hours per weekday, totaling 900 hours over your term.
• Pay: $10,800 pre-tax stipend, paid twice monthly at $450.00per pay period.
• Education Award: Upon successful completion of your service term, you’ll receive a Segal Education Award of $3,697.50.
• Eligible forbearance on qualified federal student loans, with interest potentially paid by the National Service Trust
• Child care assistance for eligible members
• Hands-on training, mentorship, and professional development throughout your term
