Job summary

Northwestern University is seeking an administrative professional to coordinate processes across education, research, and operations within the MED-Clinical Trials Unit. The role involves creating and maintaining documents, spreadsheets, databases, and web pages, and alerting supervisors to critical issues and events.

The position requires 4 days on-site per week and a high school diploma with at least 4 years of relevant experience; a bachelor’s degree and REDCap experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 4 years of administrative support or other relevant experience required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and database software programs.

Responsibilities

  • Independently responds to and composes correspondence.
  • Creates and maintains standard spreadsheets and/or databases.
  • Prepares queries, reports, statistics, tables, charts, etc. based on information compiled from various sources.
  • Maintains websites and/or blogs.
  • Creates new web pages and/or updates standard information/data within the application’s content management program.
  • Screens and prioritizes incoming calls.
  • Responds to inquiries.
  • Provides basic interpretation of policies and procedures.
  • Researches information to resolve problems or issues.
  • Coordinates work of receptionists, program assts, temporary/work-study students, secretaries, research/clerical assts, interns, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Target hiring range for this position will be between $19.89 - $24.86 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 4 years of administrative support or other relevant experience required.
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
  • Intermediate knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and database software programs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (i.e. public health, health/social science, health informatics, or data science)
  • Experience with EDC platforms (e.g., REDCap or comparable systems) for data collection, quality control, or reporting
  • Work experience in an academic medical center, clinical research core laboratory, or contract research organization (CRO) setting
Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)
  • Skill in managing large, complex databases with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Interest in developing skills with data analysis and/or AI-assisted tools, including basic coding
