Job summary

LEARN Behavioral is seeking a dedicated Behavior Technician in Scottsdale, Arizona, to support students with special needs in developing academic and self-help skills, as well as emotional and social regulation. Candidates will provide direct instructional support and collaborate with certified staff to reinforce learning.

Qualifications

Job Overview

As a Behavior Technician at LEARN Academy Scottsdale, formerly Chrysalis Academy, you will help students with special needs develop academic and self‑help skills, social and emotional regulation, flexible thinking, language development, and motor development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing direct instructional support to individuals and/or groups of students.
  • Providing structured support in social‑emotional, adaptive behavior, and social‑skill development.
  • Collecting data regarding students’ progress toward their goals and objectives as directed by the teaching and clinical team.
  • Reinforcing academic behaviors taught by certified staff and providing students with opportunities to practice.
  • Assisting students in community, recreational, school, and leisure activities under the direction of certified staff.
  • Implementing organization‑approved techniques for verbal de‑escalation and safe physical restraint, with training provided in specific therapeutic techniques.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned and required by building administration and certified staff.
Candidate Profile
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
  • 1‑2 years’ experience working with children in a special‑needs educational setting preferred but not required.
  • Genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of children with special needs.
  • Compassion, empathy, enthusiasm, kindness, goodwill, and reliability.
  • Willingness to learn about a variety of disability categories and learning differences.
  • Ability to collaborate, receive feedback, mentoring, and direction from peers and supervisors.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional and clinical perspective, not internalizing or personalizing student behaviors.
  • Physical ability to safely and effectively use crisis‑management interventions, including therapeutic holds, for all involved.
  • Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or ability to obtain one.
Physical Requirements

Physical requirements vary by student assignments and may include lifting or moving up to 100 pounds, stooping, reaching, standing, kneeling, squatting, sitting, walking, lifting, pulling, and grasping for extended periods of time.
