Job summary

Salvation Army Territorial Headquarters Payroll Account in Atlanta is seeking a dedicated Program Aide/Bus Monitor to support youth programs at the Family Life Center. You will supervise children, assist with lessons and homework, provide snacks, and help create a safe, engaging environment.

Responsibilities include transporting supervision on field trips, keeping attendance and discipline records, and participating in regular training sessions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one year working with children or equivalent experience.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification required.
  • Safe from Harm Certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and supervises children in the Family Life Center with care, safety and engagement.
  • Assists with lesson plans, activities, and homework for age groups.
  • Provides snacks and monitors mealtimes in a positive atmosphere.
  • Washes and maintains hygiene of children during activities and transitions.
  • Maintains materials, cleanliness, and sanitary standards across spaces.
  • Monitors children on buses and during field trips; prepares transportation rosters.
  • Attends in-service trainings and follows emergency protocols; performs other duties as assigned.

Job SummaryLeads children’s activities including classroom training, tutoring, assists with homework, sports activities, bible study, computer programs and specialized programs; prepares and serves children snacks; monitors children on field trips; maintains the cleanliness in all areas of the Family Life Center. Monitors passengers in any Family Life Center transportation needs.Essential FunctionsThis job description should not be interpreted as all inclusive. The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related responsibilities and tasks other than those stated in this job description.Program Aide (50%)Provides constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner.Assists with the development of lesson plans which are age appropriate, utilizing discovery areas, teacher-made materials, and hands-on activities.Provides homework assistance as needed.Provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulation through both inside and outside learning activities.Prepares and serves children snacks.Monitors children’s mealtimes while providing a positive and relaxed atmosphere with encouraging conversations.Washes children’s hands and faces after morning play activities, before lunch, and again in late afternoon before parents pick up children, or before dinner, whichever comes first.Maintains control of children and fosters positive behavior and discipline techniques.Maintains and organizes all materials necessary for Family Life Center programs.Cleans all areas of the Family Life Center, when and where needed in accordance with established sanitary standards.Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and required reports (attendance, development progress, discipline reports, incident reports, etc.).Bus Monitor (40%)Monitors children on vehicles during school transportation, field trips, etc.Monitors and assists children on field trips.Prepares and maintains transportation rosters.Other Responsibilities (10%)Ensures the safety and protection of children at all times.Accompanies children to off campus Salvation Army functions, such as Bible Conference, Youth Councils, Commissioning, etc.Attends and participates in regularly scheduled in-service training sessions; follows guidelines provided on Standards of Performance.Responds appropriately in emergency situations, utilizing protocols outlined in the Rapid Response Guidebook.Performs other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or G.E.D. required,andOne year working with children,orAny equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.CertificationsCPR and First Aid CertificationSafe from Harm Certification
