Job description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • The Division Chief of Plastic Surgery will be responsible for leading and advancing all three missions of the Division, clinical care, education, and research, while maintaining and expanding UTMB’s national and international reputation in Plastic Surgery. The Division currently consists of 8 faculty members and 2 APPs, and the Chief will provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Division’s clinical, academic, and educational activities.
  • The Chief will be responsible for administering, growing, and advancing the Division’s programs while identifying opportunities to expand clinical services, strengthen academic and research initiatives, and enhance educational programs. The Chief will foster an environment that supports faculty and APP development, mentorship, collaboration, clinical excellence, and scientific achievement.
  • The successful candidate will have a strong record of leadership and mentorship, with demonstrated commitment to the development of faculty, trainees, and students. The candidate should have a history of active participation and leadership in national Plastic Surgery organizations and a record of professional accomplishments that will contribute to strengthening and expanding the Division’s national and international reputation.
  • The Division Chief will work closely with departmental and institutional leadership to develop and implement strategic initiatives that promote growth, innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the highest quality of patient care. The Chief will ensure the effective use of human, financial, space, and other resources while supporting the Division’s continued growth and success.
  • Candidates should be a graduate of an approved medical school, have completed an approved residency training program, be Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Plastic Surgery, and have a Texas Medical license without restrictions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellence in clinical care, education, research, leadership, and mentorship, with a proven ability to build collaborative relationships and advance the Division’s mission and reputation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates should be a graduate of an approved medical school, have completed an approved residency training program, be Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Plastic Surgery, and have a Texas Medical license without restrictions.

SALARY:
Commensurate with experience.
