A faculty member at Oklahoma City Community College has the primary responsibility of instruction. Secondary responsibilities include supporting the integrity of curricula, encouraging student success, and promoting the mission of the academic division to which the faculty member belongs as well as the College as a whole.

Master’s Degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Engineering or closely associated field.

Ability to communicate and articulate mathematical concepts in an organized manner both verbally and in writing.
Ability to read and understand content in order to assist students when they are having difficulty interpreting mathematical concepts.
Ability to interact in an effective and encouraging manner with students individually and in groups.
Ability to interact in an effective and encouraging manner with other faculty and staff individually and in groups. Organization and attention to detail.
Basic computer and graphing calculator skills.
Knowledge with mathematical and statistical computer applications (e.g. Desmos, GeoGebra, simulation applets)
Knowledge of or willingness to learn computerized tutorial and homework system (both from publishers and embedded into College systems)
Knowledge of or willingness to learn computer programs used in the department and on campus (e.g. Learning Management Systems, Early Alert, etc.). Discretion with student information.
Ability to use, and ability to explain the use of the calculators, mathematical software, and computerized tutorial programs to students.
Willingness to train on any new programs and equipment used in the department.
Familiarity with active learning and student engagement techniques
Familiarity with standards or specifications-based assessment

1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Light work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to move objects. 2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES : This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to students, faculty, staff, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations. This position requires the person to frequently move about the classroom and lab area to assist students and perform the essential functions of the position. This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and stationary position. This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that frequently involves repetitive motions of hands and wrists. This position frequently requires the person to operate a computer, other office equipment and mobile devices to prepare instructional documents, answer email correspondence, and complete other activities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. This position requires the person to frequently position self to work with classroom and lab equipment to instruct or assist students and patients. 3. VISUAL ACUITY : This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations. 4. WORKING CONDITIONS This position’s essential functions are performed in an indoor, classroom, office, and lab area.

This is a full-time position. Teaching schedules can include online, days, nights, concurrent classes at local high schools, and/or classes on week-ends; work includes: maintaining office hours, attending regularly scheduled meetings, and being available for additional meetings. This position will be primarily responsible for teaching a combination of Engineering, Physics, and Mathematics courses each semester in support of students pursuing the Associate in Science in Engineering degree. A faculty member is primarily responsible for supporting student learning by providing quality instruction in courses that the faculty member and the dean agree will be taught. Quality instruction includes clear course objectives, prepared and relevant class activities, effective and understandable presentations of learning materials, fair and understandable grading practices, timely responses to students, and a positive atmosphere in the classroom. In addition to the primary responsibility for supporting student learning, a faculty member is expected to: Be available to students by maintaining posted in-person and virtual office hours. Manage program and course curricula by helping evaluate and select course resources and learning materials, and writing course syllabi. Maintain a flexible schedule to meet program and department needs. Contribute to developing, implementing, and evaluating approved courses and micro credentials to meet partner discipline and community needs. Participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes for the program and/or department, and for general education assessment. Respond in a timely fashion to information requests from program, division, and college administrators. Attend department, division, and college meetings. Organize and participate in academic enrichment and outreach activities, primarily focused on supporting and engaging Engineering students. Acquire new knowledge and skills as appropriate for the academic discipline. Participate in College professional development and training opportunities. Participate in mutually agreed upon committees and task forces. Satisfy objectives for mutually agreed upon special assignments.

Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others. Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC’s established safety and health procedures and practices. Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
