Topographic OM, Inc. is seeking a surveyor to plan, conduct, and verify field surveys, supervise field crews, and oversee map updates for customers. You will gather data, review fieldwork, and ensure legal and regulatory compliance while coordinating crews and projects.

The role requires strong knowledge of surveying techniques, GPS data collection, and experience with CADD systems, plus the ability to work in a team and adapt to varying schedules. Travel to worksites may be required.

Qualifications

  • Intermediate to proficient skills using word-processing, spreadsheet, CADD and other computer applications in support of surveying technology.
  • Current knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations governing surveying, deeds and plats.

Responsibilities

  • Performs boundary analysis and assigns crew workload; processes survey data and reviews fieldwork, mapping, survey, and legal research.
  • Coordinates survey crews and projects; communicates information per customer orders.
  • Collects GPS locations and documents features for GIS; uses CADD to generate drawings, renderings, or reports from specifications.
  • Researches legalities; verifies work and signs off as accurate and legally complete.
  • Maintains work areas safely and professionally; detects and reports improper operating equipment.
  • Assist new employees with orientation and learning key systems and personnel.
  • Complies with safety, attendance, dress code, ethics, and meetings; performs other duties related to surveying functions.
  • Ensures all work meets company and industry standards.

Description

JOB SUMMARY

Performs surveying work. Work involves planning, conducting, and verifying field surveys, including supervision of field crews and office personnel, conducting inspections, taking field measurements, and overseeing the compilation, update, and maintenance of maps for our customers.

INTER-RELATIONSHIPS

Employees, Managers, and Supervisors throughout the corporation, and various external customers, vendors, consultants, and governmental regulatory officials.

MAJOR TASKS

  • Performs boundary analysis. Provide assignment of crew workload, processing survey data (conventional and GPS). Gather and review completed fieldwork, mapping, survey, legal research and surface modeling, to perform all survey related tasks and calculations.
  • Coordinates survey crews and projects, relates information to crews as per customer survey orders.
  • Collects GPS locations and document features for GIS Data System. Utilize CADD system to enter the required data, such as precise measurements and commands, in order to generate drawings, renderings, report graphics or other digital images. Develop, organize and prepare a variety of complex layouts, drawings and designs from written or verbal specifications, and/or rough or detailed sketches and /or drawings made by technical professionals, converting paper documents into computerized files.
  • Research legalities, verify work and sign work as accurate, verified and legally complete.
  • Maintains designated work areas in a safe, clean, and professional manner. Detect and report improper operating equipment.
  • Assist new employees of the corporation with orientation to their position, learning key support systems and personnel.
  • Complies with corporate/departmental policies and procedures governing safety, attendance, tardiness, dress code, professional ethics, and required meetings/seminars.
  • Performs other related duties as directed that correspond to the overall function of this position.
  • Assures all work produced meets or exceeds company and industry standards.

STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE

Topographic OM, Inc. in office Standard business hours is Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm.

The specific schedule for this role will be based on location and department.

Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Travel

Travel to worksites may be required.
