Job summary

Apex Companies, LLC. is seeking a Professional Licensed Surveyor to lead boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and right-of-way survey projects from proposal through final deliverables.

You will supervise field crews, oversee UAV operations, and seal documents in compliance with state regulations. The role requires 8+ years of survey experience and strong leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Professional Land Surveyor (P.L.S.) license in PA or reciprocity in a reasonable timeframe.
• 8+ years of progressive survey experience with project supervision.
• Strong knowledge of boundary law, deeds, easements, ALTA/NSPS standards, and land development.
• Experience in topographic, boundary, construction, utility, and geospatial mapping projects.
• Proficiency with Carlson, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, and GNSS tools.

Responsibilities

• Manage boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and right-of-way survey projects from proposal to deliverables.
• Serve as Surveyor of Record for plats, maps, and legal descriptions with seals.
• Direct field crews, UAV operations, and office technicians for quality and safety.
• Establish and maintain survey networks using GNSS and total stations.
• QA/QC field data, calculations, and CADD deliverables.
• Coordinate activities with project managers, clients, and regulators.
• Review drawings and provide survey support for design and construction.
• Oversee data processing workflows in Carlson, TBC, and Civil 3D.
• Support aerial mapping, LiDAR, and UAV data processing efforts.
• Prepare project scopes, schedules, budgets, and technical reports.
• Mentor junior staff and promote OSHA-compliant practices.

Your Responsibilities as a Professional Licensed Surveyor

• Manage and oversee boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, right-of-way, construction stakeout, as-built, and control survey projects from proposal through final deliverables.
• Serve as Surveyor of Record and prepare, review, certify, and seal survey plats, maps, legal descriptions, and related documents in accordance with state regulations.
• Direct and supervise survey field crews, UAV operations, and office technicians to ensure quality, safety, and project efficiency.
• Establish, verify, and maintain survey control networks using GNSS, total stations, digital levels, and conventional survey methodologies.
• Perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews of field data, calculations, CADD deliverables, and final survey products.
• Conduct boundary analysis, deed research, title review, easement interpretation, and right-of-way investigations.
• Coordinate survey activities with project managers, engineers, clients, contractors, utility companies, and regulatory agencies.
• Review construction drawings and provide survey support for design, construction layout, and infrastructure projects.
• Utilize and oversee data processing workflows using Carlson, Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and other geospatial software platforms.
• Support aerial mapping, photogrammetry, LiDAR, and UAV data acquisition and processing efforts.
• Prepare project scopes, schedules, budgets, proposals, and technical reports while ensuring projects remain on schedule and within budget.
• Mentor and develop junior survey staff while promoting safe work practices and compliance with OSHA regulations.

What We're Looking For

• Professional Land Surveyor (P.L.S.) license in Pennsylvania, or the ability to obtain Pennsylvania licensure through reciprocity within a reasonable timeframe.
• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive survey experience, including project management and supervision of survey personnel.
• Strong knowledge of boundary law, deed interpretation, easements, ALTA/NSPS standards, and land development surveys.
• Demonstrated experience managing topographic, boundary, construction, utility, transportation, and geospatial mapping projects.
• Proficiency with Carlson Survey, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, Trimble GNSS equipment, and conventional survey instrumentation.
• Familiarity with UAV mapping, photogrammetry, LiDAR, and geospatial data collection technologies is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients, contractors, public agencies, and project team members.
• Strong organizational, leadership, and project management skills.
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to occasionally perform field work, including traversing uneven terrain and lifting survey equipment when required.
• Remote work is available but will need to be in the region for potential field visits
• Sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

• Additionally licensed in or have the ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity within a reasonable timeframe within the states of; Maryland, New Jersey, West Virginia, or Virgina.
• Experience with PennDOT, Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, municipal, utility, energy, or land development projects.
• Experience managing multidiscipline surveying and geospatial mapping programs.
