A well-established and growing civil defense litigation firm is seeking an attorney with 3–7 years of professional liability and/or insurance defense experience to join its Wilmington office. This opportunity offers meaningful responsibility, strong mentorship, direct client exposure, and the ability to take ownership of cases in a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.

This role is ideal for an attorney looking to continue building a sophisticated litigation practice while working alongside experienced trial counsel in a supportive, team-focused culture.

Responsibilities

• Manage professional liability and civil defense litigation matters with increasing independence
• Handle pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediations, and court appearances
• Develop litigation strategy and communicate directly with clients, carriers, opposing counsel, and experts
• Prepare and argue motions in state and federal court
• Participate in trial preparation, including witness preparation, strategy development, and evidentiary analysis
• Provide exceptional client service through clear and proactive communication

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina law license in good standing
• 3–7 years of civil defense litigation experience
• Professional liability and/or insurance defense experience preferred
• Strong deposition, motion practice, and courtroom advocacy experience
• Ability to independently manage an active caseload
• Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills
• Collaborative mindset with a proactive and professional approach to litigation
