Full-Time | Professional Leadership Position
There is a difference between being a licensed surveyor and being given the opportunity to lead.
The company is looking for Professional Land Surveyors who want more than a desk, a production queue, and another title. We are looking for professionals ready to take responsible charge of projects, develop people, build client relationships, and help lead a growing surveying organization.
At the company, we call this role the PLS in Responsible Charge, or PLSIRC.
The PLSIRC is the professional and operational leader responsible for assigned surveying projects. You will have the authority expected of a licensed professional, supported by an organization designed to let you focus on leadership, project execution, technical quality, clients, and your team.
You won't be expected to build the infrastructure around you. The company provides the systems, accounting support, business development, training, technology, project controls, administrative support, and operating framework needed to help you succeed.
You lead the work. We help build the system around you.
As a PLSIRC, you will:
Exercise professional responsible charge over assigned surveying projects.
Lead projects from authorization and handoff through planning, fieldwork, production, QA/QC, delivery, billing, and closeout.
Direct and develop field crews and technical team members.
Manage project scope, schedule, budget, WIP, and profitability.
Build trusted relationships with clients and serve as a professional representative of the company.
Coordinate resources and priorities with the company's Operations Manager.
Establish clear expectations and hold teams accountable for execution.
Review and approve professional work consistent with applicable laws, standards, and the company requirements.
Identify project risks early and take ownership of resolving them.
Help develop the next generation of survey technicians, crew chiefs, project leaders, and licensed professionals.
Contribute to the continued development of the company's standards, systems, and surveying practice.
We are not looking for someone whose only responsibility is reviewing surveys and signing plats.
The PLSIRC is expected to understand the business of professional surveying.
The company provides training and systems for project management, financial performance, WIP, client communication, team leadership, risk management, and operational execution. We are not trying to teach an experienced PLS how to survey. We are giving good surveyors the infrastructure and business knowledge to become stronger professional leaders.
You may be a strong fit if you:
Hold an active Professional Land Surveyor license in South Carolina and/or Georgia, or can obtain appropriate licensure through comity.
Take professional responsibility seriously.
Want ownership over outcomes rather than simply completing assigned tasks.
Communicate effectively with clients, crews, technical staff, and leadership.
Understand that project profitability and client service are both part of professional practice.
Enjoy developing people and building effective teams.
Are comfortable making decisions and being accountable for them.
Want to work within a growing organization without getting lost inside a large corporate structure.
Believe good systems should support professionals rather than get in their way.
Experience with boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, construction, roadway/DOT, utility, or related surveying is valuable. Experience leading projects or teams is preferred.
PLSIRC does not have to be the final destination.
The company is building a company where talented surveyors can pursue different professional paths based on their strengths and ambitions.
That may include senior professional leadership, project and operational leadership, development of other PLSs, or eventually the opportunity to lead and participate in the growth of a the company office.
You can build a career here without having to leave professional surveying behind.
The company offers a competitive compensation and benefits package that includes:
Competitive professional compensation
Health insurance
401(k)
Profit sharing
Paid vacation, holidays, and sick leave
Professional development and continuing education support
The company University leadership, project management, and business training

Established accounting and administrative infrastructure
Business development and marketing support
Defined project-management and operating systems
Opportunities for increasing leadership responsibility as the company grows
