Job summary

TD&H Engineering in Great Falls, MT is seeking a full-time Professional Land Surveyor to join our team. You will conduct boundary, cadastral, hydraulic, and topographic surveys, process data, and prepare maps and reports for diverse civil engineering projects.

The ideal candidate has a Montana PLS, 3+ years of experience, and an associate degree in surveying. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Trimble, Carlson, and Civil 3D is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Professional Land Surveyor in Montana (PLS).
  • 3+ years of experience as a licensed PLS.
  • Associate’s degree in surveying or equivalent from an accredited post-secondary institution.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct boundary, cadastral, hydraulic, topographic, ALTA, and construction surveys.
  • Perform fieldwork using GPS and robotic total stations to collect data.
  • Prepare and review survey maps, plats, and reports ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Process survey data using Trimble Business Center and Civil 3D.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, developers, and government agencies to support land development, infrastructure, and construction projects.
  • Interpret and apply zoning laws, subdivision regulations, and property records to determine land boundaries.

What You’ll Do

As a Professional Land Surveyor, you will be responsible for, conducting surveys for various civil engineering projects, processing survey data in Trimble Business Center/Civil 3D, and preparing survey maps, reports, and other documentation. Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct boundary, cadastral, hydraulic, topographic, ALTA, and construction surveys/staking for public and private projects.
  • Perform fieldwork using GPS, robotic total stations, and other survey equipment to collect and analyze data accurately.
  • Prepare and review survey maps, legal descriptions, plats, and reports ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Process survey data using Trimble Business Center and Civil 3D.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, developers, and government agencies to support land development, infrastructure, and construction projects.
  • Interpret and apply zoning laws, subdivision regulations, and property records to determine land boundaries.
  • Review and verify survey calculations, data analysis, and mapping accuracy.

What We’re Looking For

The candidate will work under the guidance of experienced Project Managers and will partner with the firm’s multidisciplinary team and clients to deliver high quality projects. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, highly organized, and eager to contribute to a growing team. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Licensed Professional Land surveyor in Montana (PLS).
  • 3+ years of experience as a licensed PLS preferred.
  • Associate’s degree in surveying or equivalent from an accredited post-secondary institution is preferred.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. Experience with technical software such as AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center, Carlson Survey and Civil 3D etc.
  • Excellent organization and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to multitask and manage project workload, deadlines, and clients effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Salary: $95,000 - $115,000 annually (excludes year-end bonus), depending on experience, education, and qualifications.
