Qualifications

• Storm water drainage and HEC-RAS experience preferred.
• Experience with MicroStation preferred.
• Experience with InRoads preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support within the Transportation Department for road projects.
• Utilize CADD software for designs of roads and drainage.
• Manage projects from inception to final acceptance.
• Manage projects to ensure timely delivery and efficient resource use.
• Support review of roadway calculations, submittals, contractor proposals, and change orders.
• Develop project engineering fees and QA/QC reviews of design activities.
• Collaborate with the team to achieve departmental and company goals.

Job description

STATUS: Full Time. STARTING PAY: Based on experience, Salary commensurate with experience level. HOURS: Monday through Thursday 7:30am to 5:00pm and Friday 7:30am to 11:30am; Additional hours may be required based on project needs. LOCATION: Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Professional Civil Engineer in the Transportation Engineering Division; focused on continuing career as a technical expert and/or project manager for Road Projects. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• BS Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering curriculum. Advanced degree a plus
• Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of Louisiana
• Minimum of 5 years of qualifying experience after licensure as a Professional Engineer
• Strong background in advanced computer software
• Experience with LADOTD, or similar agency, requirements and standards pertaining to roadway and bridge projects
• Knowledge and understanding of applicable design codes and clients standards
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
• Road design experiences with Louisiana DOTD preferred
• Design experiences with storm water drainage and HEC RAS preferred
• Experience with Microstation, preferred
• Experience with Inroads, preferred

TYPICAL DUTIES:

Duties include, but are not limited to providing engineering and technical support within the Transportation Department through services such as project development, detailed project design, calculation and proposal development, opinion of cost, and technical engineering and inspection for a variety of road projects. Specific examples include:

• Utilizing engineering and CADD software to oversee and/or provide designs for road, drainage and other civil project plans and specifications
• Interpreting electronic surveys to incorporate into plans
• Project management for all phases of design work from inception to final acceptance
• Managing projects to ensure efficient personnel utilization and on-time delivery
• Assist in the review of roadway calculations and plan submittals, shop drawing submittals, contractor proposals, requests for information, change orders, etc.
• Develop project engineering fees and negotiate engineering contract scope of work performing QA/QC reviews of design activities of design team members
• Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
• Assist in any duties required to deliver a quality product on schedule and within budget
