Job summary

Boston Children's Hospital is seeking a Professional Billing Analyst to enhance physician billing and revenue cycle operations. You will analyze data, identify trends, and develop solutions to improve workflow, accuracy, and reimbursement for diverse hospital services.

The role requires strong analytical skills and collaboration with finance, clinical staff, and leadership, with Epic experience highly preferred to optimize CDM, billing, and reporting processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Preferred areas of study include Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related physician billing experience, with a primary focus in technology, operations, finance, or a similar area.
  • Strong knowledge of physician billing operations within a healthcare environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex problems using technical, mathematical, and cross-functional knowledge.
  • Knowledge of current physician billing requirements and related technology.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work through differing perspectives and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, analyze, and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and improve revenue cycle workflows and processes across multiple physician organization functions.
  • Support day-to-day problem resolution and troubleshooting related to physician billing operations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve revenue cycle efficiency, accuracy, reimbursement, and overall revenue control through operational and system enhancements.
  • Work closely with department leaders, hospital colleagues, and executives to gather information and identify revenue cycle opportunities
  • Extract, compile, and analyze data from multiple systems to identify opportunities related to charge description master (CDM) setup, charge capture, billing, and collections.
  • Use analytical tools to extract, manipulate, and evaluate data to support revenue cycle decision-making.
  • Maintain data integrity when manipulating and analyzing data files.
  • Validate queries and reports to ensure results are accurate and meet expectations before presenting finalized information.
  • Run and compare data in multiple ways when necessary to validate results and support accurate issue resolution.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve complex physician billing and revenue cycle issues.
  • Provide support and recommendations for process improvements and revenue cycle initiatives.

The Professional Billing Analyst supports physician billing and professional revenue cycle operations by analyzing data, identifying trends and issues, and developing solutions to improve workflow, efficiency, accuracy, reimbursement, and overall revenue performance. This position serves as a key analytical resource for service line leaders, finance directors, managers, physicians, clinical staff, and other hospital colleagues on matters related to professional revenue. Epic experience is highly preferred.
