Job summary

ThermTech - Heat Treating Specialists in Waukesha, WI is seeking a shift-based Heat Treat Operator to deliver high-quality heat-treated components. The role focuses on demanding production schedules, safety, and teamwork.

You will work 1:30 PM to 10:30 AM, Monday–Friday, earning $29.25–$37.44 per hour with 17% shift differential. Benefits include health, dental, 401(k) matching, PTO, holidays, life and disability insurance, HSA, and on-site clinic.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Requirements: legal right to work in the United States.
  • ITAR compliance requirements; DSP-5 license for eligibility.
  • Drug test and background check for all hires.
  • May require overtime or weekends.
  • Forklift certification may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate production employees in heat-treating operations.
  • Read charts, work orders, schedules to determine production needs.
  • Plan work schedules and sequences to meet goals.
  • Interpret blueprints and job orders for workers.
  • Monitor gauges and controls to ensure quality and safety.
  • Train employees in equipment operations and safety procedures.
  • Evaluate and manage employee performance and development.

Position Location: 1511 Pearl Street, Waukesha, WI 53189

Position Hours: 1:30 PM - 10:30 AM Monday - Friday

Position Wage: $29.25 - $37.44 per hour (17% shift differential included)

Salaries are based on a number of factors, including the skills and experience of the candidates. It is common to be hired at the lower to middle end of a salary range and while it is possible to be hired at the higher end, it often requires unique circumstances, such as proven expertise.

Job Description:

Summary:

Responsible for ensuring your shift delivers heat treated components of exceptional quality to exceed the customer's requirements, completing scheduled work and meeting commitments, ensuring all personnel work safely and follow all safety requirements, and the continued development of all shift employees to create a technically superior workforce.

The supervisor will report to the Production Controller and collaborate with other supervisors to ensure production runs smoothly across shifts.

Job Duties amp; Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the production or processing of parts.
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers.
  • Observe work and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards.
  • Record times that parts begin and end operations to document that objects have completed operations(s) and process(es).
  • Adjust controls according to work instructions, using thermal instruments and charts, dials and gauges of furnaces.
  • Conduct employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures, or assign employee training to experienced workers.
  • Evaluate employee performance.
  • Recommend or execute personnel actions, such as evaluations, or promotions.
  • Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances.
  • Recommend or enact measures to motivate employees.
  • Recommend and enact measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.
  • Set up and adjust machines and equipment.
  • Enforce 6S safety and cleanliness requirements.
  • Keep records of employees' attendance and hours worked.

Minimum Requirements:

Employment of Foreign Persons(s) [22 CFR 120.63] will be contingent on receiving the DSP-5 license from the US State Department.
  • All hires are contingent upon a 9-panel hair follicle drug test amp; background check.
  • May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends.
  • May be required to obtain and maintain forklift operation certification

Physical amp; Mental Demands: The following physical and mental demands consist of but are not limited to the following:

  • Must be able to work in a standing position for extended periods in a non-climate controlled industrial environment
  • Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform functions.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying at least 25-pound objects throughout shift
  • Must be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, humidity, etc.
  • Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to perform fundamental mathematical skills and concepts (e.g. addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, percentages, and the basics of algebra and geometry).
  • Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
  • Ability to hear in person and via phone.

Education: High school education or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience:

2 years of heat-treating experience is preferred.

Skills:

  • Proficient computer skills in Bluestreak (ERP/MRP), Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills both with employees and customers.
  • Be a true professional.
