Job summary

Silgan Containers in Rochelle, IL is hiring a Production General Laborer for a 4-On/4-Off, 12-hour shift schedule. Starting pay is $23.51–$27.02 per hour with a $0.80/hour night shift differential and overtime opportunities, plus comprehensive benefits and a 401(k) match.

You will perform hands-on manufacturing tasks, learn positions like Forklift, Packer, and Quality Analyst, and help maintain a safe, clean plant while supporting maintenance and plant projects as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Learn different positions such as Forklift, Packer, Quality Analyst, Stacker, and Sorter.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Operate forklifts safely and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
• Support maintenance and facility projects using hand and power tools.
• Assist with equipment installation, movement, assembly, and repair activities.
• Help maintain hazardous material, compressor, and utility areas.
• Perform pallet repair, painting, housekeeping, and general plant upkeep.
• Maintain plant grounds, including mowing, trimming, trash removal, and snow removal.
• Identify and report equipment issues, leaks, or unsafe conditions.
• Participate in training activities and assist with other duties as assigned.
