Job summary

A glass manufacturing company in Olathe, Kansas, is seeking a Production Employee to assist in the fabrication and production of architectural flat glass. Job description

Perform all tasks involved in the production and fabrication of architectural flat glass for Insulite Glass. Follow standard work methods and practice safe work habits to ensure work is as efficient and safe as possible.

Perform other related duties and assignments as required

Be available to work in all areas of production

Schedule

Monday through Friday (overtime as needed)

*Primary Duties and Responsibilities by Department*

Cutting Department
  • Cutting Table: Place glass onto glass optimization table for processing. Cutting head makes cuts in glass. Remove cut glass from table and place it on harp racks. Dispose of excess glass after it has been cut to size. Must be able to lift 75-100 lbs.
  • Seaming Line: Take cut glass from rack, place glass on seaming line to smooth sharp, rough sides. Must be able to lift 75-100 lbs.
Doors Department
  • Must be able to lift up to 150 lbs.
  • Must be able to work without constant supervision
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings/blue prints
Fabricating Department
  • Polishing: Load and unload glass onto conveying system that polishes the edge of the glass. Must be able to lift 75-100 lbs.
  • Forvet: Load and unload glass on Forvet table. Select and run CNC programs to cut holes and notches in glass. Must be able to lift 75-100 lbs.
  • Spandrel: Assist in loading and unloading glass onto bed of Spandrel oven to apply ceramic paint on glass. Must be able to lift 75-100 lbs.
Insulating Department
  • Feeder: Pick up and place cut glass on washer. Run glass through washer. Perform quality check for defects in glass. Must be able to lift 75-100 lbs.
  • Stacker: Pick up and place glass on table. Add fabricated, metal framed spacer. Match up and place like glass to other side of spacer. Attach appropriate tags on product. Must be able to lift 75-100 lbs.
  • Sealer: Apply sealant with sealant gun around glass and spacer of insulated unit.
Laminating Department
  • Load and unload glass from rack to lamination line
  • Place laminate between like sizes of glass to process
  • Trim excess laminate from glass
  • Must be able to lift 75-100 lbs.
Loading Department
  • Trim excess sealer/laminate from glass
  • Tag and organize glass
  • Prepare glass and racks for shipping
  • Systematically load trucks to deliver orders
  • Must be able to lift 75-100 lbs.
Maintenance Department
  • Must be able to drive a fork truck, empty dumpster containers, sweep floors and keep facility, parking lot and street free of broken glass.
  • Assist Maintenance Technician with equipment installation, repairs and maintenance
  • Must be able to lift 75-100 lbs.
Tempering Department
  • Load and unload glass from conveying table for tempering ovens
  • Operate tempering oven by learning recipes for various glass types
  • Attach appropriate tags on product
  • Remove glass from oven if it breaks
  • Must be able to lift 75-100 lbs.

Most work takes place in an enclosed warehouse. Involves standing, walking, and lifting for long periods of time throughout the day. Must be able to work in a hot environment. Job requires employee to wear gloves, protective sleeves, eye protection, long pants, sleeved-shirts and sturdy work boots.
