Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Production Shift operator to support safe and efficient mill operations. You will perform a variety of production functions, maintain material flow, and help meet production goals across multiple work areas.

The role requires operating reel and winder equipment, managing OCC inventory, and adhering to safety and quality standards. Overtime and weekend work may be required. This is an onsite, rotating shift position.

Qualifications

• Must have flexible schedule to work four 4 day on / 4 day off shift rotation, including weekends and holidays.
• Must be willing to work overtime as required, including during scheduled mill outages.
• Must have basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a reliable flow of recycled fiber raw materials to production operations to support mill performance.
• Operate material handling and production equipment safely and efficiently to maximize productivity.
• Manage OCC inventory and material movement using computerized systems to maintain accurate stock levels.
• Optimize fiber quality by selecting and supplying the appropriate OCC grades to meet quality standards.
• Produce customer-ready paper rolls by operating Reel and Winder equipment in accordance with safety and quality specs.
• Support the timely shipment of finished products through safe loading and handling of customer orders.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while adhering to safety, environmental, and operational procedures.
• Alignment with Smurfit Westrock's values of safety, loyalty, integrity and respect.

The Opportunity

Successful operators must develop proficiency in at least seven of the mill's nine production positions, enabling the team to meet production goals, support customer needs, and drive operational performance.

What You Need to Succeed

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Must have a flexible schedule to work four 4 day on / 4 day off shift rotation, including weekends and holidays
• Must be willing to work overtime as required, including during scheduled mill outages
• Must have basic computer skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Lift Truck experience preferred
• Prior manufacturing experience preferred
