Job summary

Silgan Containers in Hoopeston, IL is seeking a part-time press operator to perform packaging, visual inspection, and stacking of finished products on pallets. Responsibilities include routine cleanup and covering for operators as needed.

Candidates should have basic math skills, good English communication, and experience with common office and production equipment. A high school diploma is required; manufacturing experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must have basic math skills (add/subtract/multiply/divide) and use decimals/fractions.
• Good English speaking and writing skills.
• Experience using computers, copiers, calculators, scanners, and printers.

Responsibilities

• Operate press equipment for packaging and inspect product quality.
• Stack finished product on pallets; perform cleanup and assist other operators as needed.
• Carry out other duties as assigned by management.

This Is a PART-TIME, Non-benefits Eligible Position.

Pay is $15.00 per hourplus 5 percent shift differential

Essential Job Functions

• Perform Press Operator functions including packaging, visual inspection of product for quality, and stacking of finished product on pallets
• Various clean-up tasks, part sorting, and filling in for operators when needed
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management

Job Requirements

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, use decimals and fractions
• Good English speaking and writing skills
• Experience using computers, copiers, calculators, scanners, and printers

Experience/Education

• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Requirements

• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment

Physical Requirements

• Ability to kneel, stoop, crawl, squat, and stand for extended periods while running machinery up to 12 hours
• Ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds
