Job summary

GBLI | Global Indemnity is seeking a Production Underwriter for the East Region—a remote full-time role in the United States. The position emphasizes multi-line renewal pricing with a specialty in general liability and property, supporting growth through agency relationships and disciplined underwriting.

The role requires 2+ years in P&C underwriting, with preferred experience in Excess & Surplus lines.

Qualifications

• 2+ years Property and Casualty Underwriting experience required including expertise in general liability and property risks; experience underwriting Excess and Surplus lines preferred

Responsibilities

• Review, price, and manage renewal business (multi line with an emphasis on general liability and property) in accordance with company guidelines
• Select, price, quote, and decline new business in accordance with company underwriting guidelines and experienced underwriting judgment
• Manage assigned territory that supports growth and profitability objectives; create strategic agency management plans
• Respond to endorsement requests from existing accounts
• Provide 24-hour response time on new business submissions and same-day turn-around on calls and emails; collaborate with other underwriters to maintain 24-hour response time
• Travel 10-25% to assigned agents
• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with appointed agents to foster profitable business
• Accountability for production and loss ratio performance of assigned agents
• Educate agents on Penn-America Group products and underwriting systems

The typical starting salary range for this position can vary depending on several factors such as geographic location, education, experience, and skill set. The full salary range for this position is designed to provide employees with the opportunity to progress and grow within their positions and reflects the competitive market value for these positions across the national market. GBLI, also offers a total compensation plan including bonuses for all positions.

Typical annualized starting salary range for this position:

$ 66,000 to $140,000

Essential Duties & Functions

• Review, price, and manage renewal business (multi line with an emphasis ongeneral liabilityand property) in accordance with company guidelines
• Select, price, quote, and decline new business in accordance with company underwriting guidelines and experienced, underwriting judgment
• Manage assigned territory that supports the growth and profitability objectives established by the business unit. Create strategic agency management plans that encompasses production and loss ratio as well as travel and marketing plans
• Respond to endorsement requests from existing accounts
• Provide 24-hour response time on new business submissions and same day turn-around on phone calls and emails, Work collaboratively with other Underwriters in the Unit to maintain 24-hour response time on new submissions.
• 10-25% travel to assigned agents
• Develop and maintain collaborative business relationships with appointed agents to foster the generation of profitable business
• Accountability for the production and loss ratio performance of assigned agents
• Educate agents on Penn-America Group products and underwriting systems

Qualifications

• 2+ years Property and Casualty Underwriting experience required including expertise in general liability and property risks; experience underwriting Excess and Surplus lines preferred
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Professional designations (CPCU, AU, ETC.) are a plus
• Experience working with wholesale brokers preferred
• Efficiently plan/manage agency visits and travel time will be essential
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required; The ability to market Penn-America products to agents is essential
• Excellent analytical skills required
• Excellent organizational and time management skills required
• The ability to work collaboratively in a team with other underwriters will be needed
• Insurance rating experience is plusStrong computer skills are a necessity. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
