Job summary

Nemera Vernon Hills is hiring a Production Tutor to onboard new employees on the production floor. You will train, demonstrate, and supervise startup, operation, and shutdown of equipment, ensuring adherence to product specifications and GMP standards.

Responsibilities include managing training checklists, introducing documentation, and providing ongoing feedback. You will help maintain quality, safety, and proper workflow across shifts in a clean manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience as an effective operator in Injection molding and/or assembly.
• Extensive knowledge of safety procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Complete knowledge of quality procedures and documentation applicable to production work posts.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes new production employees / temporary workers and introduces the work position and environment.
• Manages Training Checklists for each new employee and assigns Training Buddies.
• Demonstrates startup, operation, and shutdown of machines and what to do in case of malfunction or accident.
• Introduces workstation documentation and ensures proper usage and completion.
• Provides training on product quality, production of samples and visual checks and on GMP practices.
• Prepares and explains traceability, identification, batch name, preparation, and clearance processes.
• Prevents accidents by explaining risks and safety responses.
• Assesses new employees with the Training Checklist and provides feedback and follow-up training.
• Shares best practices with Tutors, Production Supervisor, Technical Production Trainer, and HR.
• Other duties as assigned

Job Description

Position Purpose: A tutor is an employee who aids one or more people in certain subject areas or skills. Tutors are “on the job” trainers who transfer their knowledge and know‑how to new employees on the production floor.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Welcomes new production employees / temporary workers and introduce the work position and environment (e.g., production floor areas, colleagues, quality team, suppliers, etc.)
• Manages Training Checklists for each new employee and works with Production Supervisor to assign Training Buddies. Utilizing the Training Checklist, first demonstrates how to successfully complete tasks to be performed during the shift, according to product specifications and operating
• Shows and explains how to start-up, operate and shutdown the machines, and what to do in case of equipment malfunction and/or an accident
• Introduces the documentation to be used at the workstation (e.g., Specifications and inspection Instructions, Lot Record Package, etc.) and ensure that it is properly followed and completed.
• Provide training on product quality, production of the different samples and visual checks and on Good Manufacturing
• Practices (e.g., traceability, identification, batch name, preparation, and clearance, …)
• Prevent accidents by explaining the risks at workstations (e.g., risks of pinching, cut, etc.) and standard response to safety concerns or incidents
• Assess the new employee at the end of their induction using the Training Checklist, provides regular feedback and/or additional training, and monitors them over time
• Shares best practices and challenges identified during tutoring with other Tutors, Production Supervisor, Technical Production Trainer, and Human Resources
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience as an effective operator in Injection molding and/or assembly
• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required
• Completed specific training provided by the Quality and EHS departments
• Extensive knowledge of safety procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
• Complete knowledge of quality procedures and documentation applicable to production work posts
• Able to frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
• Stand and walk 90% of shifts and from machines, buildings and/or clean rooms
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, grab, and climb

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Works in a clean manufacturing and warehouse environment that may include moderate noise levels

PAY RANGE:$24.00 USD - $30.00 USD Hourly (This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.)
