Job summary

Jobtailor in Illinois seeks a Manufacturing Assembly Technician to assemble, repair, and evaluate surgical and industrial endoscopes and adapters. You will inspect parts, maintain documentation, and ensure quality through QC checks while supporting cross-training and 6S in the workspace.

The role requires reading assembly drawings, using microscopes and small tooling, and abiding by cGMP and safety rules. Flexible shifts and overtime may be required to meet production goals.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required or preferred.
  • Experience with general manufacturing assembly and small-part assembly is valued.
  • Flexibility for different shifts/overtime to support production schedules and quality objectives.
  • Experience with microscopes, tooling, soldering equipment, solvents/adhesives is preferred.
  • Ability to cross-train in multiple assemblies and read assembly drawings/procedures.
  • Familiarity with cGMP, basic PC skills, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, repair, and evaluate rigid, semi-rigid, video, and flexible medical endoscopes and industrial adapters.
  • Assemble and disassemble electronic components.
  • Clean and inspect components and ensure QC pass or rework as needed.
  • Maintain 6S on workspaces and adhere to SOPs and quality standards.
  • Document work according to procedures and complete daily production documentation.
  • Provide cross-training for team members as needed.
  • Follow PPE, safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Complete quality and compliance training within deadlines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Production Manager – Optics or Production Supervisor – Optics.

Job description

  • Assemble, repair, and evaluate rigid, semi-rigid, video, and flexible medical endoscopes and industrial adapters
  • Assemble and disassemble electronic components
  • Clean and inspect various components
  • Ensure assemblies pass QC inspections or are reworked or replaced
  • Perform maintenance on department equipment and work areas as needed
  • Complete daily production documentation accurately
  • Provide cross‑training for team members as needed
  • Maintain 6S on workspaces, equipment, and rooms
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures and quality standards
  • Document all work according to procedures
  • Follow PPE and safety requirements
  • Comply with the RWMIC Quality Manual and applicable regulations
  • Complete planned quality and compliance training
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Production Manager – Optics or Production Supervisor – Optics
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of general manufacturing assembly or 1 year of small part assembly experience preferred
  • Must be flexible to work different shifts or overtime as needed to support production schedules and meet quality objectives
  • Ability to use microscopes, small tooling, soldering equipment, solvents & adhesives is preferred
  • Ability to cross train in multiple assemblies
  • Ability to understand assembly drawings and written assembly procedures
  • Basic understanding of measuring devices and ability to use calipers, gauges, micrometers, etc. is preferred
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) preferred
  • Basic PC skills
  • Experience with and understanding of multi-cultural and multi-generational differences and the ability to work within this environment
  • Ability to stand, sit, and walk for 8 hours per day
  • Ability to work safely and comply with PPE, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to complete required quality and compliance training within defined deadlines
