The Production Technician 1 is part of a team that reports to the Shift Supervisor and is responsible for setting up production equipment, preparing batches per established recipes, monitoring the fermentation process, and processing the fermentation slurry to a purified state while ensuring the product meets established quality standards and that the production area and equipment are kept clean.

Essential Functions:
  • Follow batch records and set points to prepare, measure, mix, and load media into reactors, tanks, or other equipment.
  • Use HMI (human-machine interface) system to monitor system performance and adjust equipment parameters to meet production goals.
  • Replace consumable items (ie., filters) and calibrate probes and scales to ensure product quality.
  • Operate liquid and solid material-handling equipment, including mixers, pumps, centrifuges, conveyors, dryers, etc.
  • Perform in-process testing of process material in a laboratory setting to ensure product specifications are met.
  • Accurately input data on batch records, logs, and computer systems to document production activities and results.
  • Follow established CIP (clean-in-place) protocols to ensure equipment and device cleanliness.
  • Handle production chemicals and participate in chemical spill/leak response and cleanup using appropriate chemical-rated personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Communicate and coordinate with other operators, supervisors, engineers, and maintenance staff to ensure smooth and efficient production operations.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues or raise problems that may arise during plant operations.
  • Safely operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and bucket lifts as needed.
  • Perform inspections and safety checks on equipment and work areas to ensure compliance with 6S protocols.
  • Follow company safety procedures and regulations, and wear appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) at all times.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 2 or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Able to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Must be able to learn to operate machinery systems safely, and then regularly demonstrate safe operation of production equipment.
Preferred Certifications
  • Current OSHA HAZWOPER Hazardous Materials Technician-level training in accordance with 29 CFR § 1910.120(q)(6)(iii), including at least 24 hours of applicable training and demonstrated competency.
  • Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training, completed in accordance with 29 CFR § 1910.120, including all applicable annual refresher requirements
  • Current OSHA HAZWOPER On-Scene Incident Commander training as per 29 CFR § 1910.120(q)(6)(v)
  • Forklift, scissor lift, and/or bucket lift certification
Compensation

This position is required to work in a manufacturing facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, and ear protection is required.

Physical Demands and Position Requirements
  • While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to see, sit, talk, hear, stand for 8-12 hours, walk, climb, bend, kneel, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and operate computer software. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • The position requires participation in the Chemical Response Team while on shift, including completion of the annual OSHA 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher training required under 29 CFR § 1910.120.
Position Type/Work Schedule
  • This is a non-exempt, on-site, full-time position that requires overtime.
  • Hours: 6pm-6am:

Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday

Week 2: Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

  • This position includes weekends, holiday work (at holiday pay rate), and overtime.
