Job summary

Airgas is hiring for a Production Technician I in Canton, OH. Join a diverse team and support operations in the Production plant, following SOPs and safety rules. Learn instrumentation, rotating equipment and piping while aiding maintenance and operations.

This role offers $30-$33 per hour with a 4% bonus, a 12-hour rotating schedule, and a broad benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, tuition assistance, and paid holidays.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of technical training or operations experience.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation, rotating equipment and piping systems.
  • Ability to work extended hours/shift work.
  • Valid driver's license and US work authorization.
  • Forklift, man lift or overhead crane experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support and carry out industrial operations in the Primary Production plant per SOPs and maintenance procedures.
  • Apply safety rules and company safety policies to care for and support the team.
  • Identify potential maintenance needs and log them into the Maximo system.
  • Collaborate with contractors and co-workers to ensure safety and alignment on policies.
  • Participate in rounds, water samples, truck loading and PMs; maintain a clean, organized workplace.

Airgas is Hiring for a Production Technician in Canton, OH! We are looking for you!

Pay: $30 - 33 per hour Bonus: 4%

Work Schedule: 12 hour rotating schedule, AMG on call as required.

Job Duties
  • Support and carry out industrial operations in the Primary Production plant in alignment with standard operating and maintenance procedures.
  • Apply your understanding of plant safety rules, regulations, and company safety policies/procedures to care for and support the team.
  • Foster a shared safety culture by being safety minded; shares and practices supportive safety habits.
  • Engage safely and thoughtfully in all situations.
  • Identify potential maintenance needs; enter them into the work order maintenance management system (Maximo) to support ongoing reliability.
  • Perform all work in alignment with standard operating and maintenance procedures, utilizing current Life Safety Training skills and safety requirements including safe work permits, energy control isolation and IDLs, confined space entry work, hot work, work plans, pre-job discussions, plant safety inspections, etc.
  • Collaborate with contractors, visitors, and co-workers to build alignment on company safety policies/procedures.
  • Facilitates safe work permit documentation and coordinate lock-out tag-out of equipment.
  • Ideally, you will grow your knowledge and ability in all plant operations including processes and equipment.
  • We welcome your curiosity and interest in instrumentation and mechanical systems.
  • Learn and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), corporate procedures; apply basic math and learn to navigate blueprints, flow charts, process piping ISOs, simple schematics, P&IDs, and electrical schematics.
  • Maintain thoughtful and clear records while following documentation and record retention procedures.
  • Bring your experience or readiness to learn control board and operator interface computer consoles.
  • Participate in operator rounds, water samples, truck loading, and operations PM's.
  • Contribute to a clean, well-organized workplace environment.
  • Adapt to help the team with additional needs as requested by Plant Management.
  • All other duties based on business needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of technical training or operations experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge/understanding of instrumentation, rotating equipment and piping systems.
  • Ability to work extended hours/shift work as business needs dictate.
  • Applicants must have a valid driver's license.
  • Candidates must have valid employment authorization in the U.S. and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical Associates degree preferred.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants (Process Safety Management, EPA regulations, FDA regulations, state/local regulations).
  • Knowledge in the proper methods of locking out and isolating equipment.
  • Ability to use computers-knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to work in a team environment; demonstrated self motivated attitude.
  • Good verbal/written communication skills in order to deal effectively with management and external customers.
  • Qualified in operation of the forklift, man lift and overhead crane is preferred.
  • Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work.
