Compass Systems, Inc. is seeking motivated high school students to join the Production Technician Co-Op Program. This hands-on opportunity provides training in manufacturing, assembly, electronics, and production operations while working with experienced technicians.

Participants gain practical experience with tools, equipment, and documentation used in a manufacturing setting, collaborating with engineering and production teams to support diverse technical projects.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in high school and eligible for a school co-op program.
• Interested in manufacturing, engineering, electronics, or technology.
• Dependable, eager to learn, and able to follow instructions.
• Comfortable using tools with hands-on work.
• Detail-oriented and focused on quality.

Responsibilities

• Assemble electronic and mechanical components per drawings and instructions.
• Operate production equipment and tools.
• Test, inspect, and troubleshoot assemblies and systems.
• Support prototype builds and engineering projects.
• Maintain production and quality documentation.
• Follow safety procedures and keep a clean workspace.

Description

Compass Systems is seeking motivated students interested in participating in our Production Technician Co-Op Program. This is a hands-on opportunity to learn about manufacturing, assembly, electronics, and production operations while working alongside experienced technicians and manufacturing professionals.

Students will receive on-the-job training and gain practical experience using tools, equipment, processes, and documentation commonly used in a manufacturing environment.

This position requires a hands-on individual who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and collaborating with engineering and production teams to support a variety of technical projects. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, takes pride in hands-on work, and brings a positive attitude to a production team environment.

Essential Job Functions

• Perform assembly of electronic and mechanical components according to technical drawings, work instructions, and quality standards.
• Operate production equipment and tools used in manufacturing processes.
• Conduct testing, inspection, and troubleshooting of assemblies and systems.
• Support prototype builds and engineering development projects.
• Maintain accurate production and quality documentation.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Collaborate with engineering and production staff to resolve technical issues and improve processes.

Requirements

We are looking for students who are:

• Currently enrolled in high school and eligible to participate in a school co-op program.
• Interested in manufacturing, engineering, electronics, skilled trades, or technology.
• Dependable and willing to learn.
• Comfortable working with their hands and learning how to use tools.
• Able to follow written and verbal instructions.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to learn and apply new information and/or skills. Must be able to interpret data, information, and documents. Other requirements:

• Occasionally will need to lift/and or move up to 35lbs.
• Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day.
• Work in moderate environment temperature and noise level.
• Regularly work around moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity. Noise level may be loud at times.
