Job summary

LKQ Corp in Plano, TX, is seeking a Production Tech to help meet quality standards and deadlines by assembling products, inspecting components, and monitoring production equipment.

You will follow safety guidelines, manage materials and inventory, keep a clean, organized work area, and perform other duties as assigned to ensure smooth, compliant manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have basic math skills and communicate clearly with teammates.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Preferred experience in manufacturing, assembly, automotive electrical, warehouse, or wire harness environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble products and components according to work instructions and production standards using hand tools and production equipment.
  • Inspect assemblies and equipment for defects; verify pin locations, wire lengths, and crimp integrity and report issues promptly.
  • Label, package, and prepare completed products for shipment; manage shipping and receiving activities for components and production materials.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of products and materials.
  • Check stock levels and report deficiencies in products or raw materials.
  • Maintain production area machines and production line equipment.
  • Meet the deadlines of individual production tasks during shift.
  • Keep the production area clean to avoid hazards from chemicals and fragile products.
  • Follow the company's safety and quality guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

A Production Tech is responsible for meeting quality standards and deadlines for products. They check for defects, assemble products, monitor manufacturing equipment, and closely follow safety procedures to prevent accidents in environments where materials may be hazardous.


Essential Job Duties


  • Assemble products and components according to work instructions, engineering drawings, and production standards using hand tools and production equipment.

  • Inspect assemblies and equipment for defects; verify pin locations, wire lengths, and crimp integrity and report issues promptly.

  • Label, package, and prepare completed products for shipment; manage shipping and receiving activities for components and production materials.

  • Maintain accurate inventory of products and materials.

  • Check stock levels and report deficiencies in products or raw materials.

  • Maintain production area machines and production line equipment.

  • Meet the deadlines of individual production tasks during shift.

  • Keep the production area clean to avoid hazards from chemicals and fragile products.

  • Follow the company's safety and quality guidelines.

Supervisory Responsibilities


  • Not responsible for supervising employees.


Minimum Requirements


  • High School Diploma/GED.


Preferred Requirements


  • Previous manufacturing, assembly, automotive electrical, warehouse, or wire harness experience preferred

  • Experience with inventory management and shipping/receiving processes

  • Experience working in lean manufacturing or production environments


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities


  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing; may write brief messages and keep simple records.

  • Follows standard procedures and directions provided by supervisor/manager with minimal independent decision making.

  • Knowledge of basic safety rules and precautionary measures (safety gear will be provided).


Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment

Lifts, pushes, pulls an average of 80+ lb. occasionally, 40 lb. frequently, and 20 lb. constantly. Requires continuous physical effort; short work cycles; repetitive motion work. Standing 80%, walking 20%. Exposures to atmospheric conditions such as dust, fumes, varying temperature extremes. May have exposure to noise, various chemicals, and waste products.
