Job Description: The Production Technician is responsible for safely and efficiently operating oil and gas wells and production facilities across an assigned route. This role focuses on optimizing production performance, maintaining equipment, and ensuring all operational and safety metrics are met. The technician utilizes digital tools and field expertise to identify production variances, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to restore and maintain optimal well performance. This is a hands‑on field role requiring strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Monitor daily production and identify variances using SCADA systems and production monitoring tools
- Analyze underperforming wells and implement step‑by‑step corrective actions to restore performance
- Escalate complex production issues to appropriate teams (lead technicians, optimization, engineering)
- Conduct routine site inspections and ensure all compliance and operational checks are completed on time
- Perform plunger lift inspections and ensure adherence to inspection intervals and performance metrics
- Maintain accurate well status coding, downtime tracking, and production data documentation
- Create and manage work orders for maintenance, automation, or additional support needs
- Ensure all field activities comply with safety procedures, including LOTO and permit‑to‑work requirements
- Perform Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) prior to all work activities and review contractor JSAs when applicable
- Coordinate with field crews and cross‑functional teams to support production and maintenance activities
- Troubleshoot artificial lift systems including plunger lift, gas lift, and wellhead compression
- Operate and maintain production equipment such as separators, compressors, heaters, tanks, and scrubbers
- Track and manage facility tickets and production data for validation and reporting
- Maintain housekeeping standards across sites, ensuring cleanliness, signage, and safe conditions
- Communicate daily activities, priorities, and handovers to operations teams
Skills
- Strong understanding of oil & gas production operations and facility flow paths
- Ability to troubleshoot wells and production equipment effectively
- Knowledge of artificial lift systems (plunger lift, gas lift, compression)
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and production monitoring tools
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to interpret production data and make operational decisions
- Knowledge of safety practices including LOTO, JSAs, and hazard identification
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced field environment
- Proficiency with digital tools, reporting systems, and basic computer applications
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Qualifications
- Experience in oil & gas production operations, lease operations, or a related field
- Familiarity with wellhead operations, facility equipment, and production systems
- Experience troubleshooting artificial lift systems and production issues
- Knowledge of production reporting, data tracking, and well performance metricsAbility to work independently in a field‑based environment with minimal supervision
- Physical ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform manual tasks
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between field locations
- Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence
Job Details
Pay: $36 per hour with a truck, $48 per hour without a truck
Location: Nordheim, TX
Schedule
- Days: Wednesday – Tuesday (7 days on/7 days off)
- Hours: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM (12‑hour shifts) Night Shift
