Job summary

The Peace Center is seeking a Production Technician to manage lighting, audio, and rigging for shows and events in Greenville, SC. This hands-on role also acts as stage manager and handles event management duties for assigned productions.

Responsibilities include advancing events, coordinating with clients and staff, ensuring safety compliance, and supervising crew. A minimum of two years in stagecraft and console operation is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in general stagecraft techniques.
• Minimum 2 years of experience running consoles.
• Knowledge of OSHA Regulations.
• Knowledge of basic principles and methods of stage management.
• Demonstrable knowledge of production equipment and systems.
• Knowledge of audio and lighting systems.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing production equipment.
• Ability to operate theatre systems and cue calls.
• Read and interpret technical documents and drawings.

• Operate sound board and lighting console, and serve as show carpenter, fly man, or rigger as needed.
• Serve as Production Coordinator or Stage Manager when required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Peace Center is a major, nonprofit performing arts center serving a growing and sophisticated audience in Greenville, South Carolina. It is the dominant performing arts center in the state and region. Built on a six-acre campus with an aesthetic mix of new architecture and historic buildings, the campus is at the hub of Greenville's nationally recognized downtown.

The Peace Center venues include the 2,115-seat Peace Concert Hall, the 400-seat Gunter Theatre, the 1,400-capacity outdoor Peace Pavilion, Genevieve's Lounge, and the Huguenot Mill which includes two event spaces: the Ramsaur Studio and the Huguenot Loft, the 250-seat Mockingbird (a listening room), and the 1150 capacity Coach Factory (flat floor club).

Position Summary

The Production Technician is a hands-on position responsible for lighting, audio, and rigging related to shows and events at the Peace Center and will act as the stage manager and perform event management related duties for assigned shows.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES (Include, But Are Not Limited To)

• Prepare and review show riders, crew calls, invoices, event reports, stage diagrams, lighting plots and various other reports and correspondence.
• As assigned, advance events, meet with clients, technical staff, and Peace Center personnel to discuss production needs and schedule crew calls.
• Identify any technical problems, design issues or equipment limitations and notify appropriate client and management staff.
• Ability to maintain advance and show records.
• Supervise staff and local labor during scheduled calls to ensure proper use of house equipment and efficient use of labor.
• Maintain a safe working environment for all performance and support areas ensuring that all building, electrical, and fire codes are adhered to, and Peace Center safety procedures and OSHA regulations are followed.
• As needed and assigned to meet show requirements:
  • Operate sound board.
  • Hang, focus, and operate lighting console.
  • Serve as show carpenter, fly man, and rigger.
  • Serve as Production Coordinator or Stage Manager.
• Other duties as assigned and deemed necessary to the position.
