Job summary

FOX Television Stations is seeking a Production Technician for an 8-week temporary assignment in the Dallas area. Responsibilities include operating live control room equipment, handling transmission and ingest tasks, and supporting studio operations in a fast-paced news environment.

Ideal candidates will have a 2-year technical degree or RTf, 1 year of related technical experience, and familiarity with iNews and broadcast software.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical degree or Radio-Television-Film (RTF) preferred; relevant experience may substitute.
• 1 year of hands-on experience as a Production/Operations Technician, Master Control Technician, or Transmission Technician preferred.
• Knowledge of iNews and core broadcast software; ability to operate modern broadcast systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate live control room equipment including audio consoles, cameras, graphics, and production automation coding for high-volume news shows.
• Perform Transmission Operations Center duties using IP video and satellite feeds for acquisition and ingest.
• Manage multiple complex tasks in a fast-paced news environment.
• Oversee studio operations, lighting, set upkeep, and assist talent or guests in studio.
• Support facility transition and uphold high technical standards during shift changes.

KDFW FOX 4-the ratings leader in the #4 media market in the nation-is moving into a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility. To maintain seamless live newscast operations at our current facility while permanent staff train on systems at the new site, we are seeking experienced, temporary candidates to fill News Production Director, Master Control Technician, Production Technician, and Production Automation Technician roles for an 8-week assignment. Production Technician (Temporary 8-Week Assignment)

The Requirements

• Live Control Room Operations: Operate, audio consoles, robotic cameras, graphics platforms, and assist Director in coding production automation shows for high-volume news programming.
• Transmission & Ingest: Perform Transmission Operations Center (TOC) duties, leveraging modern IP video and satellite transmission platforms for news acquisition, ingest, and feed management.
• Multi-Tasking in Market #4: Manage complex technical responsibilities concurrently in a fast-paced, news-intensive market environment.
• Studio Operations: Oversee studio floor care, lighting/set upkeep, general technical readiness, assist talent and guest in studio.
• Facility Transition Support: Maintain high technical standards across daily operations and perform other duties as assigned during our physical and operational shift.

Key Requirements

• Education & Experience: 2-year technical or Radio-Television-Film (RTF) degree preferred (equivalent professional experience actively considered).
• Industry Background: 1 year of hands‑on experience as a Production/Operations Technician, Master Control Technician, or Transmission Technician strongly preferred.
• Systems Knowledge: Working knowledge of modern broadcast operating systems, iNews, and core industry software.
• Soft Skills: Direct, effective communicator; highly collaborative; maintains a calm, professional demeanor under tight deadlines.
• Availability: Flexible schedule required, including nights, weekends, and holidays as operational demands shift.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $24.80-43.98 per hour.
