Job summary

CoorsTek is seeking a Production Tech II in Oak Ridge to analyze processes and drive quality in ceramic powder production. You will use SPC, perform intermediate calculations, and collaborate with engineering to resolve technical issues.

The role requires at least 3 years in AMP processes, strong math/computer skills, and the ability to train other AMP technicians. Shifts may vary and on-site presence is expected.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma GED or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ AMP process experience.
  • Intermediate math and computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Works independently on assigned projects.
  • May set up production machines and test equipment and troubleshoot when abnormalities arise; suggests and implements cost-saving solutions and/or reports all process and material deviations to appropriate leadership in a timely manner.
  • Acts as a quality gate keeper between Engineering and Production to assure all processes are properly followed and materials are manufactured to defined requirements.
  • Continuously monitors all processes and materials to assure they are behaving normally and adhering to specifications.
  • Works directly with Technicians, Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality to continually improve processes.
  • Performs hands-on training with other AMP Technicians (levels I and II).
  • Assists and/or performs in any and all areas as assigned.

Job Title Production Tech II

Responsible for analyzing processes and projects in the production of high quality ceramic powders.

Roles & Responsibilities

Performs intermediate level calculations and appropriately uses formulas to calculate surface areas, volumes, weights, densities and various other measures. Uses SPC and technical programs to do in-depth troubleshooting and improve materials and processes. Interprets more complex SPC control charts and capability studies for processes that require the use and application of statistical and other company software. Works with engineering to resolve technical issues. Performs shrinkage/characterization testing (i.e. moisture, slip weight, density, viscosity, etc.).

  • Works independently on assigned projects.

Job Requirements

Education: High school diploma GED or equivalent

Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in AMP processes.

Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Ability: Intermediate language, math and computer skills. Intermediate understanding and practical application of Statistical Process Controls. Utilizes higher math skills to calculate surfaces, volumes, weights, densities and various other measures. Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds.
