Position Summary
Summary:

A Production Supervisor establishes an achievable manufacturing production schedule regarding labor, material availability, and capacity in a general product-to-order manufacturing process in a manufacturing cell work structure. A Production Supervisor position interacts with many internal partners to ensure the products are produced per customer specifications in a timely and efficient manner. This position is responsible and held accountable to meeting established production goals on an ongoing basis. This position requires the ability to directly lead and guide the entire production process for all work required and supervision of employees on an assigned shift or department.

Responsibilities
  • Directs, motivates, and develops the work of production employees
  • Trains and delegates training of production employees on the processes and methods required to achieve Company standards for quality, quantity, and safety
  • Establishes clear expectations for performance, holds production employees accountable to work standards, and appraises performance on an ongoing basis
  • Provides coaching, mentoring, and necessary resources for production employees to expand their job knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Plans and establishes work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals and ensure a smooth transition between work shifts
  • Monitors work of production employees to ensure that all production, quality, housekeeping, and safety procedures are being followed; Ensures that department work instructions reflect current policies and procedures
  • Applies knowledge of materials, production processes, quality control, and resource allocation to maximize manufacturing efficiencies and drive process improvements
  • Participates actively in all company management, production, quality, and training meetings
  • Contributes to team effort by performing productions tasks as needed
  • Works alongside employees/leads/planners/engineers/quality/customer service to help resolve constraints, maximize efficiency, and reduce wasted time, labor, and materials across all production
  • Helps communicate and/or coordinate needs of materials, processes, procedures, equipment, tools and employees between cells
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Module Manager
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Direct supervision of 20-45 Production and/or Operations staff on an assigned shift or department
Qualifications
Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred
  • Up to two (2) years of experience performing manufacturing planning or lead function is desired
  • A combination of relevant education and experience can be considered in lieu of exact educational and/or experience requirements
  • Professional certificates in production and inventory management, supply chain management, or other related certifications are desired
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrates and maintains a professional demeanor in all situations, including the ability to deal with irate and/or demanding employees in an effective manner
  • Passionate, driven to succeed with a self-motivated work style and personality who can lead teams and projects and who is confident to be personally held accountable for achieving goals and objectives
  • Very good project management skills, including ability to manage and/or participate in a project or multiple projects from beginning to end
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with all internal and external customers and employees
  • Independent decision maker who is assertive and practical
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite and Enterprise Resource Planning systems is required; must learn to be proficient in SAP
  • Ability to interpret Detailed Manufacturing Instructions (DMIs), Mylars, and other technical writing for product specifications
  • Ability to prioritize competing commitments in line with company objectives
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret work-related data
  • Displays a "Safety First" attitude toward safety practices and procedures to insure personal safety and the safety of others, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE)
Physical Demands:
  • Walking, standing, crouching, kneeling, bending, and/or stretching for 10-12 hour per day
  • Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers using repetitive pressure and squeezing, pinching/pulling with force while working with whole hand(s) or arm(s)
  • Good hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds using appropriate equipment
  • Ability to pass a physical capacity medical exam
  • Ability to work under variable environmental conditions within the plant, such as:
    • Temperature instability in sections of the plant;
    • Atmospheric conditions, including fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation; and,
    • Exposure to oils, solvents, and other industrial chemicals
