Job summary

Staff Management | SMX in Effingham, IL is seeking a Production Team Leader on 2nd shift to oversee line operations, ensure safety, quality and timely delivery. You will post daily work assignments and provide hands-on support on the shop floor.

You will coach team members, train new hires using SOPs and TWI methods, drive continuous improvement, manage inventory, and respond to issues to keep production running smoothly.

Qualifications

  • Experience in plastics manufacturing is a plus.
  • Ability to train/lead others effectively.
  • Strong knowledge and performance in manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors.
  • Follow safety rules and procedures in manufacturing.
  • Basic math, reading and comprehension skills.

Responsibilities

  • Follow SOPs for Team Leads and team members.
  • Report line performance to the area supervisor.
  • Prepare equipment and components for production, including changeovers.
  • Follow 6S guidelines on the shop floor.
  • Escalate issues so production remains on track; relieve team members during emergencies.
  • Test parts hourly; follow rework, re-introduction and teardown procedures.
  • Maintain non-conforming procedures and data input.
  • Create boundary documents and train team members.
  • Execute labor plans to optimize team utilization.
  • Train new hires using TWI methods and SOPs.
  • Complete standard work audits and inventory control.
  • Understand all customer requirements at all times.
  • Perform other production services as needed.

The Production Team Leader is responsible for overseeing line operations to ensure production is operating in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. Responsible for production schedules and posting of daily work assignments based upon production needs and individual strengths. Must be shop floor oriented and provide hands-on product/process support for all reports on a daily basis. This individual will be the driver behind product/process safety, quality, delivery, and morale. Accountable for continuous improvement of assigned department as well as training and development of direct reports.

Employment Types: Temp to Hire, Full Time.

Pay Rate: $23.00 / hour

Duties:
  • Follow detailed instructions, which incorporate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Team Leads and team members.
  • He or she reports directly to the area supervisor regularly on line performance and issues that need to be resolved.
  • Also, prepares the equipment and components for production throughout the day, including changeovers.
  • Follows and ensures operator 6S guidelines are met.
  • Execute proper escalation procedure for issues that impede production. Relieve team members as needed for emergencies. Test parts on an hourly basis; follow rework, re-introduction, and teardown procedures.
  • Execute all non-conforming procedures and ensure accurate tracking and data input.
  • Create boundary documents as needed and train all team members accordingly.
  • Execute labor plan as established by management team to ensure proper utilization of team members.
  • Train all new hire employees using TWI methods and SOPs.
  • Complete standard work audits as directed by the management team.
  • Ensure accurate inventory control within the responsible area.
  • Understand all customer requirements at all times.
  • These are primary responsibilities; however, the employee may be utilized for production services that may include but are not limited to assemble/disassemble, load and unload machines/inspect parts that are being packed, clean, sweep, general labor work.
  • Includes, but not limited to, read, write, walk, bend, carry, inspect, stoop, reach, twist, lift up to 15lbs and stand intermittently, work an 8-hour day equaling a 40-hour work week Monday through Friday and mandatory overtime weekdays (before/after normal shift and weekends.
