Central Moloney is seeking a hands-on Production Team Lead for its Welding/Metal Fabrication team in Panama City, FL. You will guide a team of welders and fabricators to hit daily targets while maintaining safety and quality on the shop floor near the airport.

Leadership is key—experience is helpful, but the role emphasizes directing the crew, ensuring timely production, and enforcing standards. Overtime including Friday and Saturday shifts is required through year-end.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; welding certification a plus.
• 2 years welding and/or metal fabrication experience preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings.
• Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong safety, dependability, and punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily welding and metal fabrication operations to meet production schedules and customer requirements.

Central Moloney is looking for a hands-on Production Team Lead to help guide our Welding & Metal Fabrication team at our Panama City manufacturing facility near the airport.

You don't have to be an experienced welder to be considered.

We're looking for someone who knows how to lead people, keep a team motivated, hold employees accountable, and help production run safely and efficiently.

Reports To: Production Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Please Note: Due to current production demands, this position currently requires mandatory overtime, including Friday and Saturday shifts. This schedule is expected to continue through the end of the year but is subject to change based on business needs.

About The Role

As a Welding/Metal Fabrication Team Lead at Central Moloney, you'll play a critical hands-on leadership role on our Panama City production floor. You'll be responsible for guiding a team of welders and fabricators through daily production goals while maintaining the quality, safety, and efficiency standards that CMI is known for. This isn't just a support role — you're the person your team looks to when they need direction, and the person leadership relies on to keep the floor moving.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate daily welding and metal fabrication operations to meet production schedules and customer requirements


• Monitor weld quality and fabrication output to ensure compliance with CMI standards, blueprints, and specifications


• Train and onboard new welders and fabricators, sharing best practices and reinforcing proper technique


• Conduct on-the-floor coaching and provide performance feedback to team members in real time


• Identify and communicate production bottlenecks, equipment issues, or quality concerns to the Production Supervisor promptly


• Enforce all safety protocols specific to welding and metal fabrication, including PPE compliance and hazard awareness


• Maintain accurate production records, including output tracking, scrap logs, and shift reports


• Collaborate with the Production Supervisor to support workflow planning and staffing adjustments


• Motivate team members to meet daily targets while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement


• Assume additional duties as assigned

What you bring

A plus, but not required: Welding, metal fabrication, blueprint reading, or previous manufacturing team lead experience.

• 2 years of experience in welding and/or metal fabrication in a manufacturing environment, preferred


• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings


• Prior experience in a lead, mentor, or supervisory capacity preferred


• Knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick, or similar) and fabrication techniques


• Strong communication skills with the ability to give clear direction on a fast-paced production floor


• Analytical mindset with a focus on quality, efficiency, and problem-solving


• Commitment to safety, dependability, and punctuality


• Basic math and computer skills for recordkeeping and reporting

Key Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent; vocational training or welding certification (AWS or equivalent) a plus


• Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, with the ability to stand, bend, and work in varying conditions for extended periods on the production floor


• Availability for flexible hours and overtime as production demands require


• Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug & alcohol screening
