Job summary

Americhem is hiring a Production Team Lead in Grand Rapids, MI to direct shift activities and support compounding and manufacturing processes. You will coordinate production with the lab, logistics, and maintenance teams to meet customer specs and production schedules.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, strong mechanical aptitude, and leadership experience in manufacturing. Training on both shifts is expected, with some Saturdays possible.

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment and processes.
• Experience with Microsoft Suite or Oracle and basic computer literacy.

Responsibilities

Salary Range: $28.28 To $32.00 Hourly

Join the Americhem team, where we help you unlock your full potential. We are hiring a Production Team Lead to support manufacturing operations at our Grand Rapids plant.

Americhem is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of custom color concentrates. In this role, you will direct shift activities, support compounding and manufacturing processes, and help ensure products meet customer specifications and production schedules. You will coordinate production activities and serve as a liaison between the laboratory, production, logistics, and maintenance teams.

Training and Schedule

• Employees must be available to train on both 1st and 2nd shifts
• Occasional scheduled Saturdays may be required

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot
• Experience working with computers and software, including Microsoft Suite, Oracle, or similar systems
• Solid math and analytical skills
• Dependable, reliable, and self-motivated

Preferred Qualifications

• Five to 10 years of relevant experience in a similar industry, such as color, plastics, paints, or inks
• Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
• Associate degree or higher in management, quality, engineering, or a related field
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or Six Sigma

Key Responsibilities

• Make safety a top priority by following safety procedures, making sound safety decisions, watching out for the safety of others, contributing to safety improvements, and participating in safety programs
• Direct shift activities to ensure products are manufactured safely and according to process specifications and production schedules
• Work as a lead operator and run equipment when necessary to support business continuity
• Communicate daily production goals, production gaps, shift-to-shift information, and end-of-shift reports verbally and electronically
• Facilitate daily Workforce Development and training activities
• Ensure new operators receive training and current operators are cross-trained in accordance with ISO/IATF certification standards and company goals
• Coordinate effectively with laboratory, production, logistics, and maintenance teams
• Monitor equipment and operations, troubleshoot issues, and support continuous improvement
