Overview

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Production Assistant Operator in our Tucson, AZ location. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems and are the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are used across aircraft, aerospace engines, industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.

Job Overview

Support the production of highly engineered aerospace fasteners formed from exotic alloy wire on precision high-speed heading equipment. The purpose of this position is to perform activities that would otherwise prevent the machine operator from keeping the machine running. This position will support approximately eight machines and operators at one time.

Responsibilities

• Move raw material from various areas to headers
• Manage and keep wire storage organized while following required rules and regulations
• Operate a variety of mobile equipment (forklifts, walkies, etc.)
• Assist with shipping and receiving when receiving new wire and raw material shipments
• Manage oil storage and the crushed can area while following required rules and regulations
• Coordinate with procurement on oil ordering
• 5S of oil storage and raw material warehouse
• Keep WIP queues filled with wire that is next needed
• Assist in oil changes on headers
• Assist when available to retrieve tooling and gaging
• Maintain, clean and secure work area and tools; secure equipment when not in use
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Adhere to Howmet EH&S, Quality, Continuous Improvements and other Company Policies

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
• This position is subject to ITAR requirements, which may require U.S. person status (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, etc.).
• Physical requirements: standing, walking, overhead reaching, lifting 35–40 lbs, pushing/pulling totes, and leaning over machines on a regular basis.
• Attention to detail and strong communication skills. Prior manufacturing experience or machinery background preferred.
• Ability to walk continuously for hours; capable of lifting 25 pounds; mobile equipment certification; ability to interact with suppliers/customers. Training in oil storage and handling.

Preferred Qualifications

• Forklift certification
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Experience in aerospace manufacturing or related field
• Experience in oil handling or similar EHS materials
