Job summary

Charles Schwab is hiring a Production Support Data Engineer to support the cloud data and analytics ecosystem. This onsite hybrid role spans Southlake, TX and Austin, TX, focusing on reliable data platforms and proactive incident response.

You’ll lead operational support for data platforms, automate processes, and ensure data availability with cross-functional collaboration. Hybrid work with on-call rotations is included.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on production support experience in a data warehousing environment.
• 3+ years supporting ETL workloads, Informatica IDMC or IICS preferred.
• 3+ years supporting data and analytics applications in Google BigQuery on GCP or similar platform.
• Experience with Splunk, Remedy, Jira or equivalents for issue tracking and monitoring.
• Proven ability to lead production support with analytical thinking and troubleshooting to restore service.
• Experience establishing operational standards, documentation, and support processes.

Charles Schwab is hiring a Production Support Data Engineer to support the cloud data and analytics ecosystem. In this onsite hybrid role across Southlake, TX and Austin, TX, you will help keep enterprise data platforms and business-critical data applications running reliably, strengthen operational stability through automation and monitoring, and respond to production incidents when they matter most.

What you’ll do

• Lead operational support for enterprise data platforms, large-scale batch workloads, and business-critical data applications.
• Anticipate, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues while improving automation, platform resilience, and operational stability.
• Drive production readiness, releases, incident resolution, and operational change.
• Partner across data engineering, platform, business, and external teams to improve data availability and service reliability.
• Build scalable support standards, enhance monitoring and preventive controls, and communicate clearly during service disruptions.
• Continuously refine processes to deliver secure, stable, and reliable enterprise data operations.
• Join a scheduled on-call rotation, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support production environments and critical incidents.

What you’ll need

• 7+ years of hands-on production support experience in a data warehousing environment.
• 3+ years supporting ETL workloads; Informatica IDMC or IICS is highly preferred.
• 3+ years supporting data and analytics applications in Google BigQuery, preferably on GCP or a similar cloud data platform.
• Experience with support tools such as Splunk, Remedy, Jira, or equivalents.
• Proven ability to lead production support for enterprise data platforms with analytical thinking and technical troubleshooting to identify root causes and restore service.
• Experience establishing operational standards, documentation, and support processes aligned with enterprise policies.
• Ability to improve data classification, storage, security, quality, and compliance through scalable technical solutions.
• Use data analysis and quality assurance practices to support informed decision-making, operational performance, and product integrity.
• Communicate clearly and promptly during production incidents, coordinate cross-functional resolution, and engage stakeholders through complex technical issues.
• Demonstrated technical leadership, including coaching team members, setting priorities, and supporting reliable delivery in production.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.

Preferred qualifications

• 5+ years with Control-M or AutoSys workload scheduling.

• Hands-on proficiency with Linux, shell scripting, SQL, and data analysis.
• Experience improving large-scale batch operations through automation, self-healing solutions, and continuous process improvement.
• Experience navigating incident and change management processes with an end-to-end understanding of system flows and the broader technology landscape.

Compensation

$140,000 - $145,000 per year.
