Job summary

Marcal Paper is seeking a Production Supervisor for the night shift to lead a converting team in a fast-paced plant. You will plan work, assign tasks, and supervise approximately 40 team members to meet or exceed production quotas while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The ideal candidate brings prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, strong communication skills, and proficiency with MS Office.

Your Role:

This position will supervise team members and shift leads, as well as plan and assign work to meet or exceed production quotas. This position will also make recommendations for process improvement and enforce policy/procedure as you lead by example.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Encourage and enforce a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing a converting team of +/- 40 team members.
  • Ensure the plant and equipment is running as efficiently as possible while meeting customer demand through schedule attainment and performance management.
  • Accountable for shift production, product quality, employee safety, and machine uptime through direct engagement with team and gaining a detailed understanding of all operation of shop floor equipment.
  • Manage workflow through pre-shift planning, monitoring productivity and raw material levels, and executing consistent audits of current conditions within the operation.
  • Work with the continuous improvement team to develop, plan and execute improvement initiatives
  • Achieve acceptable quality and production requirements through team engagement, capacity understanding, and constraint identification
  • Improve efficiency, productivity and reduce waste to achieve set targets
  • Ensure compliance to company policy and procedures
  • Maintain employee time and attendance and properly plan coverage for approved vacations.
  • Ensure positive employee relations through training, coaching, discipline, etc.
  • Conduct accident and/or near miss investigation of work-related incidents
  • Other duties, as assigned

This job operates in a manufacturing environment. The work environment includes time on the shop floor working with people and machinery as well as time in an office setting. The ratio should be 80/20 from shop floor to office.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Night Shift 7:00 pm to 7:00am with overtime as required. The schedule reflects a 3-2-2-3 12 hr. shift schedule.

Required Education and Experience
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent
  2. Prior experience in a training/supervisory role
  3. Proficient with MS Office and overall systems/computer literacy
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in all formats and at all levels
  5. Ability to understand business and management principles
  6. Strong team building, decision-making, organizational, and people management skills
  7. Workable knowledge of continuous improvement techniques and strategies
  8. Superior problem-solving skills
