Job summary

Briggs & Stratton, headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, seeks a manufacturing manager to coordinate the effective use of equipment, facilities, and team members across shifts to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost requirements.

You will train and motivate a production team, analyze delays, manage schedules and budgets, and work with engineers to improve processes. The role requires strong leadership, cost awareness, and a proven track record in continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience in a manufacturing environment including previous experience managing personnel in a production environment with High school diploma
• Minimum of one year of experience in a manufacturing environment with Bachelor’s degree
• Experience working in multiple departments preferred
• Experience with continuous improvement methods and teams, or cost reduction initiatives showing tangible results

Responsibilities

• Coordinates the effective use of equipment, facilities, team members and skill sets to meet safety, quality, delivery and cost requirements
• Develops, trains and motivates team members to achieve safety, efficiency, proficiency, cooperation and morale
• Analyzes potential production problems and devises procedures to minimize lost time
• Reviews operational schedules, coordinates production/testing activities, and manages team assignments
• Assists with monitoring manufacturing costs and output quality and tooling applications
• Interacts with engineers to modify machines and processes to improve safety and quality
• Uses data to estimate work-hour requirements and departmental efficiencies for improvement projects
• Manages costs and budgets and provides corrective action plans
• Inspects materials and finished product for quality compliance
• Performs interviewing, hiring, coaching and development; budgeting duties
