Job summary

SMP Automotive Systems Alabama Inc. is seeking a Production Supervisor – Interior Assembly in Tuscaloosa, AL.

You will lead daily Interior Assembly production, coach the team, monitor KPIs, and ensure safety and quality standards while driving continuous improvement across operations. The role requires 3+ years of manufacturing experience ( automotive preferred), a High School diploma or equivalent (Associate degree preferred), and strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
• At least 3 years of manufacturing experience, preferably automotive.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes; ability to lead in fast-paced environments.
• Lean Manufacturing, 5S and continuous improvement knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate daily Interior Assembly production activities to meet customer and production requirements.
• Supervise and develop production team members and Team Leaders with coaching and performance management.
• Monitor production performance, staffing, labor utilization, efficiency, downtime, scrap, and other KPIs.
• Ensure processes follow standardized work instructions and customer requirements.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with safety policies.
• Partner with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Logistics to resolve issues and maintain flow.
• Lead root-cause analysis and implement improvements to reduce waste and optimize processes.
• Maintain accurate production records and communicate performance to management.

Production Supervisor – Interior Assembly

SMP Automotive Systems Alabama Inc. is seeking an experienced and motivatedSupervisor – Interior Assembly to join our manufacturing team in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

As a Supervisor – Interior Assembly, you will lead daily production activities within our Interior Assembly department, ensuring that safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and employee engagement goals are achieved. This position is responsible for providing strong floor leadership while developing team members and driving continuous improvement throughout the operation.

What You’ll Do

Lead and coordinate daily Interior Assembly production activities to meet customer and production requirements.

Supervise and develop production team members and Team Leaders, providing coaching, feedback, and performance management.

Monitor production performance, staffing, labor utilization, efficiency, downtime, scrap, and other key performance indicators.

Ensure production processes follow standardized work instructions, operating procedures, and customer requirements.

Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures.

Support investigations of safety incidents, quality concerns, production issues, and employee relations matters.

Partner with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Logistics, and other departments to resolve issues and maintain production flow.

Lead problem-solving and root-cause analysis activities to address recurring production and quality concerns.

Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste, and optimize manufacturing processes.

Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Maintain accurate production records and communicate department performance, concerns, and priorities to management.

Manage department staffing, attendance, scheduling, and overtime requirements.

Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment.

What We’re Looking For

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Manufacturing, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

At least3 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in an automotive manufacturing environment.

Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.

Strong understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes.

Ability to lead employees in a fast-paced production environment.

Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to analyze production data and use information to improve performance.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement principles is a plus.
