Crane Aerospace & Electronics in Chandler, AZ is seeking a Production Supervisor II to lead a manufacturing team across Metal Fabrication, Assembly and Test. You will drive safety, quality, and on-time delivery while managing shifts and staffing in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include applying lean tools, mentoring staff, coordinating with value stream managers, and ensuring non-conforming materials are handled promptly to minimize scrap.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years supervisory experience; 5+ years in the field.
  • Deep understanding of cellular manufacturing practices.
  • Ability to teach manufacturing-based continuous improvement skills (standard work, 5S, material replenishment).
  • Intermediate MS Office skills.

Job Summary:

The Production Supervisor II leads and directs a team of employees in an assigned area of operations such as Metal Fabrication, Assembly, and/or Test. The Production Supervisor II is accountable for maintaining a safe working environment and adhering to quality standards, and is responsible for meeting customer demand schedules within established cost goals. Supervision may include the management of employees on more than one shift.


Essential Functions:


  • Drive continuous improvement by applying lean manufacturing tools and mentoring team members in their use; review daily KPIs to identify gaps and lead structured problem‑solving efforts (8‑Step, 5 Why, Fishbone).

  • Provide inputs for resource planning, overtime forecasting, and productivity improvements to support monthly and annual budgeting processes.

  • Partner with Value Stream Managers to deliver required reporting to senior leadership and ensure cross‑functional alignment across product lines and functional areas.

  • Ensure timely identification and processing of non‑conforming materials to manage scrap, rework, and overall product quality.

  • Oversee daily resource allocation to meet production schedules and customer requirements; make staffing decisions aligned with HR procedures to support business needs.

  • Develop, coach, and mentor employees through performance planning to drive team capability and business growth.


Non‑Essential Functions:


  • Provide input to and collaborate with Engineering and Quality to define and modify manufacturing instructions

  • Use standard supply chain processes and partner with the Supply Chain team to develop material replenishment system for the manufacturing areas

  • Ensure equipment complies with calibration and maintenance procedures and requirements


Minimum Qualifications:


  • _Experience_ : 3+ years supervisory experience; 5+ years of experience in the field or in a related area

  • _Knowledge_ : Deep understanding of cellular manufacturing practices; Comfortable teaching the use of manufacturing based continuous improvement skills (standard work, 5S, material replenishment, etc.); Intermediate skill level with MS Office software

  • _Skills/Abilities_ : Effectively communicate (written and verbal) with all levels of the business and present to groups both small and large; Ability to align customer demand with manufacturing capacity to develop labor planning/allocations; Ability to use data to determine root causes of issues to drive focused corrective action

  • _Education/Certification_ : High School diploma or equivalent

  • Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Applicants selected could be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • BA or BS degree in Operations Management

  • Previous Aerospace or Electronics manufacturing experience

  • Familiarity with web based software


Working Conditions:


  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment

  • Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE

  • May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes
