Job description

MISSION:

Supervise hourly employees in the safe manufacture of company products, ensuring all quality and productivity requirements are met in a cost-effective manner. This position reports to either a Production Manager II or Area Manager. Incumbents may be required to work with hazardous waste.


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Ensure adherence to process control procedures, operating instructions, and all quality control instructions. The primary responsibility is to safely manufacture a quality product with minimal scrap or rework, while meeting customer specifications.
  2. Safely manufacture products, promote safety in supervision, and maintain a safe work environment. Emphasize accident prevention and enforce legal requirements and company safety policies.
  3. Plan, organize, and supervise shift operations in accordance with production schedules and supervisor requirements efficiently. Maintain awareness of policies and procedures and ensure employee compliance.
  4. Achieve target earned hours and meet or exceed budget criteria.
  5. Develop, train, and involve employees in maintaining and improving departmental efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, cooperation, and morale.
  6. Ensure all employees work safely and are properly trained in safety procedures. Promote good housekeeping practices routinely.
  7. Maintain adequate staffing through effective employee attendance management to meet production schedules.
  8. Work with employees to resolve grievances, provide performance feedback, conduct formal appraisals, and recommend pay increases, transfers, and promotions in accordance with laws.
  9. Interview and hire qualified candidates in compliance with laws.
  10. Ensure availability of adequate equipment and supplies to complete assigned tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma plus college-level courses or equivalent training in manufacturing, accounting, mathematics, and statistics. Additional training in motivation, problem solving, and group behavior, or completion of PCC Certificate program. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering and/or Business is preferred.
  2. Two to five years of experience in related production operations with strong team problem-solving and communication skills, both oral and written.

**Individuals may have contact with or be required to handle hazardous waste. Completion of hazardous waste management training may be required.
