Overview

This role requires 100% onsite commitment and the ability to work 3rd shift. Previous night shift experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the meeting of production schedules, quality standards, inventory accuracy, effective use of equipment, manpower skills and control of costs within planned budget procedures for third shift operations.
  • Coordinate third shift schedules and production with second shift Supervisors to meet and finish work started by day shift in all departments on nights.
  • Assign work and maintain surveillance over such operations as setups, assembly, operating production machinery, and Shipping and Receiving processes.
  • Troubleshoot tooling equipment and machine malfunctions and effect immediate adjustment and correction to prevent excessive downtime and maintain company production and quality standards. Involve maintenance personnel as required.
  • Assist the General Manager and/or other Supervisors in the planning and laying out of production schedules, staffing levels, Quality Management systems, pilot runs, etc. Support and promote continuous improvement and 5S in all areas to help meet all goals and objectives of the department. Coordinate inspection and quality control activities on all work produced under shift supervision. Support and implement all Quality Management Systems where appropriate.
  • Team oriented, ability to lead or be an active member of a team assembled to complete a task or project, and research, analyze and implement improvements.
  • Maintain all necessary systems, programs, policies and records incidental to operations and staff under supervisor control.
  • Coordinate, assist and request support from Purchasing, Engineering, Sales and Marketing and other related support services to aid and implement such programs as cost reduction, new tooling and methods, work simplification, man-hour planning, incentive rates, scheduling, quality control, maintenance and machine repair, etc.
  • Participate in, provide information for and coordinate company programs in such areas as employee relations, discipline, training, housekeeping, safety, vacation schedules, job evaluation, employee performance appraisal, labor relations, grievances, etc.
  • Train employees in safety awareness, hazard communication, personal protective equipment, fire and severe weather emergency procedures and other programs as required. Investigate accidents and near misses and complete required forms. Take an active approach to reduce all safety risks.
  • Maintain an up-to-date familiarity with all production operations, procedures and goals for the purpose of substituting for other line supervision when the occasion demands. Attend company sponsored training classes or special technical and supervisory courses to keep abreast of and well informed on new developments that pertain to supervisory and management function.
Qualifications
  • Associates Degree preferred.
  • Two to three years experience required to include time in production, setups, and operations to qualify for supervisory and technical responsibilities.
  • Experience with Lean principles, SixSigma and knowledge of a quality management system

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Communication skills will be necessary in one-to-one situations as well as large group settings
