Job summary

FXI Fort Wayne is seeking a Production Supervisor for the 3rd shift to lead hourly teams in a fast-paced foam manufacturing setting. You will ensure safety, quality, and production goals are met while coaching a union workforce.

You will work with the Production Manager to drive daily schedules, perform hourly performance reviews, and implement continuous improvement initiatives in line with FXI’s standards.

Qualifications

• English reading/writing/speaking skills required.
• Degree in management or related field or equivalent on-the-job experience.
• 3–5 years of supervisor experience in manufacturing.
• Experience with SAP/ERP systems preferred.
• Lean experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead hourly employees and ensure safety, quality, and productivity targets.
• Ensure safety processes and protocols are followed by the team.
• Enter absences, vacation, and attendance in the ADP system.
• Evaluate performance and pursue corrective action as needed.
• Complete hourly performance reviews and on-the-job training forms.
• Coordinate production schedule and manage manpower as required.
• Communicate work requirements and policy updates to the team.
• Investigate issues and drive continuous improvement in production.

Site Overview:

Our Fort Wayne facility is a union manufacturing plant with approximately 155 employees operating on three shifts. The site is a pouring and specialized post processing operation. Capabilities include pouring, fabricating, felting, reticulation (2 styles) and block. As a key location within FXI’s manufacturing network, the Fort Wayne plant is known for its strong focus on quality, safety, and operational excellence. Team members work in a collaborative, supportive environment where continuous improvement and innovation play a central role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for ensuring employee training is completed completely and timely.
• Ensure employees are following all safety processes and protocols.
• Enter absences and vacation into the time and attendance system, ADP.
• Evaluate employee performance and pursue corrective action for rule violations.
• Complete Hourly Performance Reviews.
• Complete On-The-Job Training forms both hourly and temporary employees.
• Notify management of employee issues in a timely manner.
• Responsible for distribution and channeling of orders through the production areas.
• Adjust manpower as required by production.
• Ensure the production schedule is being produced daily.
• Maintain flow of information to and from employees concerning work requirements, new policies, and new methods of operations.
• Perform continuous inspections of the production/plant area.
• Plan and coordinate production of quality foam at the lowest possible cost.
• Check equipment for problems.
• Complete maintenance work orders for repairs as needed.
• Recommend and implement improved working methods.
• Work together as a supervisor of the team to maximize plant output.
• Address problems in the production area. Control overtime.
• Maximize foam yield.
• Ensure shortages are added to the truck by shift end.
• Attend Supervisory training courses.
• Ensure employees follow safety and environmental rules.
• Complete the Health and Safety Orientation Training Checklist for all new hires, transferring employees, and temporary workers.
• Conduct weekly safety meetings. Coordinate the completion of Incident Investigation Reports (IIR).
• Coordinate the completion of Near Miss/Hazard Reports.
• Investigate the cause of safety incidents and include in documentation on the IIR or Near Miss/Hazard Report.
• Monitor emails distributed with items addressed during weekly safety meetings.
• Act as Supervisor for JHA team; coordinate JHA training each month.
• Responsible for following all environmental, safety, and work rules.
• Responsible for notifying management of any harassment, unsafe acts/conditions, or environmental concerns.
• Responsible for following the 5s for Safety Process (sort, straighten, shine, standardize, sustain).
• Responsible for working safely.
• Responsible for complying with all quality requirements.
• Responsible for working overtime when required/scheduled.
• Available for call-in when necessary.

Skills / Qualifications:

• Ability to read/write/speak/understand English.
• Degree in Management, a related field, or equivalent on the job experience.
• 3-5 years supervisor experience in manufacturing field required.
• ERP experience is plus, preferred experience with SAP.
• Lean experience preferred
